Study of manufacture of steam turbine rotar. (BHARAT HEAVY ELECTRICALS LIMITED):

A steam turbine rotor is a prime mover which converts heat energy into mechanical energy. In steam turbine cycle, water is used as the working fluid. The water is heated in a boiler by burning fuel. It evaporates into steam which is expanded in a turbine where mechanical power is generated. The steam generated is of high temperature and high pressure. The temperature is often in the 450 to 540 degrees centigrade range. The pressure range between 60 and 120 bar.

The standard turbine from BHEL operate on 50% reaction principle and are therefore fitted with reaction bleeding proceed by a single row impulse wheel as governing stage.

MODELLING AND ANALYSIS OF GEAR TRAINS:

A gear train is a mechanical system formed by mounting gears on a frame so that the teeth of the gears engage. Gear teeth are designed to ensure the pitch circles of engaging gears roll on each other without slipping, providing a smooth transmission of rotation from one gear to the next. The nature of the train used depends upon the velocity ratio required and the relative position of the axes of shafts. A gear train may consist of supr, worm, bevel or spiral gears.

The modelling of the component will be done by using the advanced modelling software CATIA V5.the analysis will be done by using one of the most important numerical methods is FEA. And the software to be used in ANSYS 14.0
