SENIOR ADVANCED ANALYTICS AND STRATEGY LEADER

“Skilled in applying AI and machine learning methods to transform big data into actionable strategies”

Throughout my professional career I have been able to contribute unique value to companies by utilizing my interdisciplinary training in advanced analytics, clinical medicine, and biological research to successfully craft innovative solution to a wide assortment of challenging problems. I have built and led productive analytics teams, as well as made many valuable independent contributions toward the development of new products, services, and solutions.

Currently, I am an independent consultant focused on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) methods in both healthcare and the life sciences. My primary interest is in the application of methods such as “deep learning” and predictive and/or causal modeling to extract new knowledge from data and transform it into actionable business strategies.

Leading and managing multiple teams of interdisciplinary scientists, clinicians, and engineers in the analysis and modeling of a wide variety of heterogeneous data.

Interfacing with clients to understand their analytical needs, develop strategies, and draft project proposals.

Extensive background in R, PYTHON, and SQL.

Experience with Deep Learning, Tensor Flow, Keras, Spark, H2O, and AWS.

CERTIFICATIONS

Active MD License in Massachusetts

EMC2: Data Science and Big Data Analytics Certificate

FutureText: IOT Analytics and Enterprise AI Certificates

Coursera: Neural Networks and Deep Learning Certificate

DIRECTOR RESEARCH -- COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY (layoffs due to restructuring) Oct 2007 - April 2009

Pfizer Global Research and Development, Groton, CT

Applied data science and machine learning algorithms to a set of CSF protein expression levels in a group of Alzheimer’s patients permitting the development of an early predictive biomarker model for the disease.

Headed the development of a novel clustering approach to gather new insights from bacterial genomic sequence data resulting in the identification of several novel vaccine targets.

Led efforts in applying computational approaches to the integration and analysis of genomic, proteomic, metabolomic, and clinical data in identifying early predictive biomarkers and new drug targets in sepsis resulting in more targeted and cost effective utilization of experimental resources.

SENIOR SCIENTIST – ANALYTICS (layoffs due to reduction in demand for services) Jan 2004 - April 2006

Pharsight Corporation, Mountain View, CA

Led the development of nonlinear mixed-effects modeling efforts from early clinical trial data to optimize later trial designs in order to maximize the probability of success and significantly reduce clinical drug development costs for several pharmaceutical clients.

Built and simulated models derived from the clinical trial literature to compare safety and efficacy of potential new therapies with existing treatment options resulting in better informed decisions early in new drug development with substantial cost savings.

DIRECTOR – ANALYTICS (failed to get C round of venture funding, company closed) Feb 2002 - April 2003

AnVil, Inc., Burlington, MA
