Supervised 27 full-service restaurants with six district managers as direct supervisors. Worked with district managers on staffing and retention of each restaurant while driving sales and profits.

Responsibilities:

Succession Planning- Have detailed plans of manager staffing at the unit level.

Report all results and budget planning to senior leadership team.

Contract management of unit outside vendors; negotiate pricing for repairs and landscaping.

Market Communication- quarterly division meetings, monthly district meeting and weekly conference calls. All communication DP led with teaching skills to the DM level.

Facilitate division leadership workshops to help identify future leadership.

Help District Managers and General Managers with local store marketing to increase sales.

Steak n Shake Inc. Columbus, Ohio

District Manager (November 2009 – June 2017)

Supervised 9 restaurants in the Central Ohio and Northwest Ohio area. Responsible for staffing and quality assurance of each restaurant. Implemented all marketing and new product strategies.

Responsibilities:

All units staffed with qualified salary and hourly management. Stayed fully staffed with managers through bench planning.

Each unit scheduled within labor budget, follow up by checking quality of each units scheduling to obtain great guest service. Stayed within budget weekly following forecasting guidelines.

Weekly food inventories checked with a physical inventory taken each week at worst performing unit. All units consistently achieved food cost targets, stayed with 1.0% of goal

Safety Audits completed monthly at each unit with emphasis on food safety. Followed all Steritech guidelines and communicated all findings.

Quality, Service and Cleanliness Audits done quarterly at each unit and results communicated to each management team.

Management development- Identify general managers for a DM role and skip level development for all levels of the management team. Able to have five GM’s elected into the Chairman’s Club for overall great performance.

Complete all financial results weekly for review to the senior leadership team. Top five DM each month and overall highest profitable DM for four years. Increased profits over one million dollars over a three year time frame.

Daily visits to units to evaluate quality and service. Give feedback to the unit leadership to celebrate successes and problem solve any unit deficiency. Implemented a performance plan to GM’s that was not able to obtain the desired results.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. Columbus, Ohio

District Manager (May 2000 – November 2009)

Managed seven full service restaurants and retail stores. Responsible for achieving high quality service in both restaurant and retail environments. Staff both parts of the business with highly talented managers and crew while working in a high volume atmosphere.

Business sales plans of both restaurant and retail. Achieved sales plans objectives yearly.

Controlled all restaurant food cost and retail shrink. Food cost under .75% from ideal.

Sourced, hired and trained all managers. District was staffed with managers and trainers. Crew staffing was over 90% after one year.
