R&D Packaging Engineer

Objective

Seeking for a challenging position in a packaging industry in a reputable firm where I can enhance, capitalize and develop my skills. Also, I would like to be part of a productive atmosphere

My current position involves the development, characterization & qualification of new technologies, processes and buying packaging materials related to the packaging of our customers’ products ( FMCG,medical, industrial products )

Acting as the key liaison between R&D, Brand Management, Regulatory Affairs-Labeling, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain, I am responsible of managing projects from cradle to grave by leveraging my creative design experience and knowledge of packaging materials, and packaging techniques to improve existing products and manufacturing best practices and ensure project timelines are met with the highest regard for safety, quality and cost.

Strong understanding of packaging Measurements and tests

Working well on different packaging measurements equipment’s

Strong understanding of packaging trends and technology of the future, folding carton, corrugated carton, cardboard, cold seal flexible materials.

Have a good experience in FMCG, medical, industrial products packaging requirements,

Aware & updated of different kinds of packaging materials costs (glass, folding carton, cardboard, plastic, tetra packs)

know many different packaging materials suppliers and can find new packaging materials markets even if its abroad

Aware of Form-Fill-Seal Technology.

Know well the Basics of printing, different ways of printing (offset, flexo, roto) and color separation.

Ability to work with Marketing and Consumer Research to understand unmet consumer needs and translate those into successful packaging innovations.

Planning for Packaging Material requirements according to customers forecast and annual plan.

Coordinates activities during the development from project start up to project implementation in production sites.

Have a good experience in different materials of carton (Duplex / Triplex / corrugated / flexible materials (roto printing papers) / laminations materials.

Manages packaging development and improvement projects to meet client, Company, and regulatory needs

Responsible of factory warehouse stock packaging different materials.

Responsible of ordering packaging materials from different suppliers

Responsible of the annual tender of the suppliers demands of packaging materials and annual forecast.

Follow up and supervise all inspection and test activities and related activities throughout production lines.

Coordinate with production manager and other interested departments to prevent or minimize the cause of product defects.

Creates Project Plans and organizes resources to ensure project milestones are met within expectations of timeline, quality and budget.

Remains current on packaging innovations throughout the industry and proliferates leading technologies within the Company.

Overseeing the production process.

Responsible of corrugated factory production (raw material procurement – corrugated sheets & boxes specifications – planning for the daily job orders)

Resolves issues on different production lines (Printing, die-cutting, gluing, lamination, ice cream, cheese Lines)

Reviews and approves product engineering change orders and packaging process changes, including labels specifications and packaging related content.

Consults with vendors & suppliers in the development of packaging for components and materials.

Managing and developing a production team

Works with key functions to design packaging through the use of appropriate structure analyses, test methods, design methodologies, feasibility justification, and business case processes.

Drives the interaction of key package, product, process and Supply Chain interfaces and incorporates them into packaging design.

Translates requirements for ISO 11607-1:2006 for customers requiring packaging for terminally sterilized products to internal product development teams and packaging personnel supporting these operations.

Designs product packaging for Secant Medical products using ISO and ASTM guidelines for integrity and transportation robustness.

Agreeing Daily production plans and targets.

Work closely with global suppliers, engineering, product management, operations, and sourcing.

Establishes supplier quality standards and supports supplier audits as needed.

Ensuring the health and safety of all employees and visitors to the facility.

Develops and executes test methods, validations, and protocols for packaging related developments and projects.

Identifying staff training needs.

Provides requested technical information to Sales

Judge on printing problems and give solutions.

Determining quality control standards.

Can Plan short, medium and long terms projects effectively.

Participate in marketing plan for models items

Coordinates testing with quality assurance lab

Develop and implement comprehensive test plans to ensure that packaging exceeds customer specifications.

Attending daily operations meetings.

Introducing innovative manufacturing processes.

Responsible of pack specification the sheet size, grammage and grain direction (duplex and corrugated flexible materials. (chromo and couche paper).

Know well the prices of printing Raw materials (carton, ink, glue, lamination…) and can calculate the price of a product.
