During my employment at Seton Northwest Hospital I earned a lot of experiences as a clinical assistant II in IMC, ICU & Medical/Surgical floor regarding total patient care as practicing clinical skills such as: checking and monitoring vital signs, measuring patient intake and outputs, assist feeding, bathing and other activities of daily living, help patient with ambulation, draw blood and other required lab works ordered by the physicians. In addition, I had other responsibility working as a clerk at the desk was: answering the phone calls, patients’ call lights, putting the doctors’ orders in the computer such as, blood and other lab works, imaging, respiratory, social worker needs order, admit and discharge the patient, making patient charts, looking at heart monitor, documenting and report any heart abnormalities noticed on the heart strips. Besides, I was trying to make a positive environment at the workplace by offering help to other staffs to help them with their work load. After, I did transfer to Mother/Baby unite in 2008, I learned more skills to take care of the new born babies and postpartum mothers. My duty was to continue my clerical job, doing the blood work on the mothers and babies such as newborn screening, assist the pediatricians with Circumcises, help with breast and bottle feeding babies and verifying the baby’s health insurance. I also helping the hospital with translation if patient was Farsi or Azari speaking and had language barriers in English. Further more, giving trainee to the new hired staffs in mother & baby unit as I had the same responsibility in my previous years of working.

I learned about many helpful sources and solutions that could help and support staffs to get positive outcomes of their effort to help adults toward better and healthy life. I also helped with few Farsi speaking clients to interpret about their concerns in to English. Documenting and reporting the found information during the case investigation. I also had some interview and counseling with few adults and teenage mothers who just got free from prison in regards to assist them toward their independency.
