PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

General Motors Toluca de Lerdo, México.

CFD-CAE Engineer.2012 – February 2019

Promote as member of a global CFD team responsible for evaluating full/partial cabin vehicle (SUV and trucks) perform HVAC/Thermal airflow and heat transfer virtual analysis to reduce physical test.

Create and coordinate as main regional contact CFD (HVAC/cabin airflow) virtual analysis work plans aligned with program timing for next crossover generation.

Managing, attending and supporting technically global and regional meetings from initial phase of program to SORP providing detailed analysis reports to guarantee the components at subsystem and vehicle level meet global requirements.

Verify a continuous follow up to established program executions process identifying future improvements.

Lead and execute Steady State analysis in trucks Cabin and HVAC components and their performance at individual, subsystem and vehicle level. Achieving the balance for airflow distribution and directability and reducing pressure drop in the headliners, A/C and Heater ducts and grilles

Achieve physical test reduction with a high correlation between analysis and physical test for pressure drop and airflow in the vehicle cabin managing and leading changes by proposing analytical solutions.

Evaluate and identify by analysis design improvements in CAC ducts at high temperatures and pressures to exceed functional requirements.

Ensure a good correlation in trucks Transient Analysis for Windshield and side windows deice determining their performance and improving the deice pattern reducing the use of tunnel test.

Perform Transient analysis simulations during the vehicle development for Water Management determining plenum water drainage and air pressure drop providing direction to reduce air inlet panel pressure drop and reach a quick evacuation of water avoiding water ingestion.

Collaborate as a main HVAC analysis engineer to support the Thermal Management Local Team performing conscious vehicle thermal analysis for Under Hood and Under Body (exhaust system)and provide solutions for thermal issues in vehicle components optimizing the heat shield design and determine which areas need thermal protection or corroborate that there is not any issues.

Analyze and model heat generation and rejection for conjugated heat transfer (convection, conduction and radiation) for complete exhaust system, induction system and mechanical components.

Interface with engine program to evaluate cylinder head, water jackets to meet HR performance

Participate in developing new CFD methodologies incorporating high complexity for non-standard procedures following global initiative for new analysis capabilities.

Represent HVAC/Thermal team in supplier quality reviews and process revision for DFMEA, checking fixtures and compliance requirements.

Support SMT design study reviews/issue resolutions, Design Directions Reviews (DDR) to define gates.

Coordinate with SMT engineering documentation and prepare new product development proposals for components to reduce potential issues.

1D HVAC-PTC Analysis Engineer. 2002 - 2012

Lead Regional Team for HVAC-PTC vehicle performance simulation for G van and Trucks using eThermal (a 1D General Motors software) achieving all the vehicle tests specification done in different proving grounds (Europe, Asia, America, Middle East), providing technical support to the vehicle program team.

Ensure documenting, generating and synthetizing the inputs and outputs that lead simulations to robust and confident results in order to capture at early stages the major HVAC-PTC issues to be solved before they represent huge cost and guarantee minimal issues during physical test.

Supporting global, regional and local meeting to report result and leading changes as required to guarantee that components at vehicle level meet the global/regional requirements

Implement the local use of 1-D software by training and couching new users to improve productivity and performance in HVAC-PTC vehicle analysis

Reduce 100% the use of vehicle mules for G van physical test with analysis for Power Train Cooling to determine coolant, transmission oil and engine oil temperatures according to procedure (including different hills, race tracks, city traffic).

Maximize full vehicle simulation for A/C and Heater Systems (evaluating discharge air temperatures, Breath temperatures and a/c-heater components performance) to reduce issues during physical test.

General Motors Toluca de Lerdo, México

Lab-Test Engineer. 2001 - 2002

Support Soak Chamber evaluations for HVAC components and subsystems at low (-40C) and high (60C) temperatures achieving fail proofs to recommend effective designs solutions

General Motors Toluca de Lerdo, México

Body/HVAC-Project Engineer. 2000 - 2001

Lead design math for G van mirrors summarizing and reporting program status to vehicle program team

Unigraphics training in GMM site, VAS tracking system, GPDS and Vis Mock Up.
