An all-terrain vehicle (ATV), also known as quad bike, three-wheeler, four-wheeler as defined by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is a vehicle that travels on low-pressure tires, with a seat that is straddled by the operator, along with handlebars for steering control.

ATVs are intended for use by a single operator, although some companies have developed ATVs intended for use by the operator and one passenger. The rider sits on and operates these vehicles like a motorcycle, but the extra wheels give more stability at slower speeds.

Automobile field is an emerging field, in this project quad bike manufacture with proper design this helps to grab much information regarding the design and analysis of an all-terrain vehicle also there is much knowledge about every subsystem like design, steering, suspension, power train, brakes and tires, which is basic part of automobile.

This quad bikes are used in the agriculture fields, Defense/ Military and also for the racing events. The racing events in India for the engineering students are ISNEE, QBDC.

The emission of carbon-mono-oxide is controlled and reduced by using the catalytic convertor exhaust.
