Project 1: Liberty Mutual - Vantage to Lifecomm Conversion

Employer: Lorven Technologies

Client: Protective Life Insurance/ DXC

Role: Mainframe Developer – Product LifeComm

Duration: Nov’18 - Present

Scope of the Project:

A)Conversion to Lifecomm: Liberty Mutual Insurance system was on Vantage. It has to be converted to Lifecomm system. Here, we had to understand their source system processing and devised the ways to code them as per Target system. It included designing BRDs and FRDs for the same followed by Coding and Unit testing. Multiple Compare programs were written to see how successful the data conversion looks in each run. We had to remove any mismatch in data by either modifying the code or applying translation tables between the system differences.

B)Production Support: This part of the project requires daily cycle run to process Insurance policies. Support has to be provided to ensure any error or issue to be handled promptly and resolved anyhow within SLA. Cycle must be completed in any scenario. The occurred problem will be documented and assigned as a ticket to us and a permanent fix is applied to avoid such problems in future.

C)Adhoc Reporting task: Coding and generating several reports needed for business and users. They come on urgent basis.

Responsibilities:

Understand the business Requirements by participating in meetings/interviews with Business users and create detailed functional Specification documents for the Enhancements and Defects which are identified by the Business Users/Development /QA Teams.

Writing several compare programs to compare the data of both systems.

Analyzing the reasons behind policies data mismatches.

Strong Impact analysis needs to be done so that proposed solution to one problem does not alter the behavior and result of other modules in the same or any different subsystem.

Coordination between development and business team to come up with the best solution of the problem.

Duration: Sep’ 09 – Oct’ 12

Scope of the Project:

A)Production Support: This part of the project requires daily cycle run on mainframe to process Insurance policies. Support has to be provided while it runs in EST hours to ensure any error or issue to be handled promptly and resolved anyhow within SLA. Cycle must be completed in any scenario. The occurred problem will be documented and assigned as a ticket to us and a permanent fix is applied to avoid such problems in future.

B)Enhancements Applications: Any addition or modification in the system comes to the team as an enhancement with an estimation of deliveries. Proper SDLC needs to be fulfilled from requirements gathering to successful deployment in production. Impact analysis is also ensured at every point of time.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for any issue or error come across while production/model cycle run. Have to fix it using system knowhow and technical expertise so that cycle completes successfully on time.

Permanent solution with the validated test cases and accurate results and reports needs to be provided when the issue comes as a ticket, afterwards.

Production support issues must be resolved at topmost priority and care should be taken about any unwanted impact while implementing. Any addition or alteration in the system comes as an enhancement and it requires proper monitoring and documentation from requirements gathering, code application to successful deployment into production region. Reports are generated on user demand on a very short notice, it requires thorough knowledge of the business process and the technical functionality to ensure variables required in the report are picked/calculated accurately.
