Aeroelastic Stability Analysis Of Horizontal Stabilizer For Light Helicopter ABSTRACT
A helicopter is classified as rotary wing aircraft which devices its lift from the rotor blades that revolves through the air. The unique feature of a helicopter is that can take-off and landing without any proper runway. In most of the helicopters, the horizontal stabilizer plays a major role, where it is used to help to hold the fuselage flat (or) parallel to the ground and make the ride more comfortable for the occupant’s inside. Because the helicopter achieves forward flight by tilting the rotor disk in the direction the pilot wants to fly. But none of the experiments and experts can’t arrest the flutter at a certain speed and the certain altitudes, but we can determine where it occurs in the level flight condition, and then decrease the level of vibration and increase. The stability of the helicopter effectively, by using the software such as HYPER MESH and NASTRAN. CONCLUSION
For a light helicopter, the stability plays a major role for having, forward and backward flight conditions at any corresponding altitude. We consider four cases to find the catastrophic failure of the horizontal stabilizer of which flutter velocity and divergence velocity to be found out in the results portion. By considering the above results the stability level of the horizontal stabilizer can be maintained and we can decrease the vibration in the stabilizer and also flutter will be neglected. PAPER
