DUTIES : After 18 months intensive learner miner training and subsequent graduation from the Chamber of
Mines Training College I was appointed as a general miner in charge of mining crews conducting
massive rock handling operations for a year and couple months.
: As part of our training program I was moved to rock breaking crews as stoper and a developer, a
tenure which lasted for three years and a number of months. I was very successful as miner which
led to management recommending that I be put on as an acting/trainee shift boss in 1993.
