B.Sc: Experiential Learning
One year experience in vegetable nursery raising and production (in tomato, capsicum, chilly, cucumber, peas, beans etc), raising of ornamental and flowering plants (annuals, biennials, perennial, cut as well as loose flowers) and nursery raising of major commercial fruit crops (ex. Apple, pear, peach, plum, kiwi etc.).
M.Sc Research Undertaken
Research Title: “Bio- efficacy and Persistence of Fame quick combi product flubendiamide and deltamethrin against major insect pests of tomato”
Research Description: It was a master’s research for the partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Entomology. The main objectives of this research were:
To study the bioefficacy of flubendiamide + deltamethrin against tomato fruit borers (Helicoverpa armigera and Tuta absoluta associated with tomato.
To study the persistence behavior of a combi product flubendiaide + deltamethrin on tomato fruits.
The major significance of my research work is to suggest the waiting period of a pesticide for safe consumption of a particular vegetable or fruit commodity sprayed with that pesticide. Frequent application of pesticides, more than the recommended dose also affects the soil micro flora and fauna, resulting in poor soil fertility, imbalance between micro flora and fauna and ultimately affect crop yield. So persistence studies of these insecticides in soil are also important from soil fertility and environmental safety point of view.
