Senior Assignment:

I worked on my senior assignment for three semesters, in the same lab and focused on the null versus wild strain of Schizophyllum commune. This research focused on determining the actual size, the pheromones and genes affected in a significant deletion on the null strain. In the process of narrowing down the actual deletion size I utilized several primers and completed hundreds of PCR replications, gels of varied consistency, and evaluated the results. The research I completed decreased the area of deletion by approximately 20,000 base pairs in combination of the alpha and beta end points. Working in the lab required working as a team which included equipment cleaning, stocking, and making stock standard liquids (i.e., primers, dNTPs, TAE, TE).
