EDUCATION

Masters in Industrial and Systems Engineering- University of Oklahoma, USA (GPA: 3.55/4) May 2018

Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Anna University, India (GPA: 3.9/4) April 2016

WORK EXPERIENCE

Process Engineering Intern - Hetronic USA (Sept 2018- Present)

Created VSM (value stream mapping) for a radio remote control assembly unit and reduced the cycle time by 20%

Using Pareto analysis, identified the most failed products and created 8D reports by working with cross-functional team.

Created PFMEA and minimised the quality issues by 30% on implementing problem solving tools such as 8D and DMAIC.

Analysed the parts from field failures, customer returns and failures within manufacturing and identified its root cause and fixed the issues, which cut down the cost of replacements (cost saved: 80000 USD).

Conducted time study on an assembly process and eliminated the non-value-added activities, which lead to a cycle time reduction from 50 minutes to 35 minutes.

Created a standardized work place by developing work instructions for new processes and trained the operators in shop floor

Implemented travel sheets (document) to find cycle time of each process and established a standard time for each process.

Worked with customers on fixing the quality issues and implemented corrective action requests (CAR) which lead to a reduction in number of quality issues by 40%.

Interacted with suppliers to know more about the quality issues and provided liaison activities with customers.

Responsible for participating in continuous improvement activities to enhance quality systems, such as 5S, Kaizen methods.

Involved in auditing Quality & Assurance (Q&A) list and helped in issuing quality alerts.

Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt - Approach in the Improvement of Dentistry Storage System (Sept 2016-May 2017)

Tools Used: DMAIC, VSM, 5S, SIPOC, Root cause Analysis and MS Excel (Pivot tables, Pareto chart).

Implemented DMAIC and 5S to create a more efficient storage system for moulds and crowns at the dentistry facility.

Used Pareto Analysis to identify high priority issues and developed an action plan to resolve critical issues.

Analyzed the data using RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and reduced the non-value-added time by 18%

Supervisor - OU Housing and Food (Sept 2016 - May 2018)

Created VSM (value stream mapping) to review process flow, areas of waste and opportunities for improvement.

Reduced worker movements by 7% using a single piece flow system to improve the productivity.

Implemented line balancing by creating a model using Arena simulation software and reduced the waiting time by 6 minutes.

Quality Engineering Intern - Mahendra Pumps - India (Dec 2014 – Feb 2015)

Created control charts and conducted study to monitor the process and its variations.

Created an 8D report for the quality issues and reduced the number of non conformities by 64%.

Reduced set up time in CNC milling machine from 45mins to 29mins through effective SMED techniques and time study.

Industrial Engineering Intern - LuK India Private Limited (Schaeffler Groups Germany) (June 2014 - July 2014)

Resolved the assembly line problems by 5 why analysis and Fishbone Diagram for the double clutch assembly.

Worked closely with cross functional team and reduced assembly flow time by 35% through VSM (value stream mapping).

Performed time and motion studies and identified the value added and non-value-added time in the process.

Reduced the downtime of the bottleneck machine through design and implementation of new fixture.

PROJECTS

OU Housing and Food - Optimizing waiting time using Arena simulation software (Aug 2017- Dec 2017)

Tools Used: Arena, MS Office and Control Charts

Made direct observations and collected data according to the operations as an approach for the analysis.

Analyzed the simulated results using process analyzer and compared the scenarios using pareto charts.

Reduced the waiting time of customers in the queue to be serviced by 81.78% .

Systems Engineering - Improving Rural Healthcare System in India ( Jan 2017- Apr 2017)

Tools Used: R Studio, Forecasting Techniques and Inventory Control

Forecasted the demand of an entire district using R Studio to increase the availability of medicines and number of doctors.

Analyzed the data and implemented the concept of consignment inventory along with causal loop diagram.

Proposed a solution to meet the demand and warehouse replenishment to increase the medicine availability by 54.54 %

CERTIFICATIONS/ TECHNICAL SKILLS

Certifications: Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt Certified and PTC Creo Parametric Data Analysis: Python, Excel
