Applications & Database Technical Consultant
Strong technical and customer-oriented background to effectively lead intiatives in a creative manner. Over 27 years of information technology experience consisting of database administration and applications development, project management, network engineering, hardware and software configuration, and mainframe systems design. 22 years has been engaged in implementing, testing, and upgrading Oracle database and application products. Lead technical role in pre and post-Oracle E-Business Suite and Business Intelligence (BI) engagements and 19 plus years of experience in E-Business Suite with a focus on technical architecture. Hired and mentored database administrators for applications database administrator roles (5 database administrators with no previous Oracle applications database administration expertise) as well as Unix system administration staff.
Technical Solutions that Align with Business Strategy: Utilized understanding of business processes in combination with technical expertise to define optimal software solutions that meet clients technical requirements within budget constraints. For instance, made recommendations to minimize the number of production and non-production instances in order to reduce hardware and software licensing costs.
Proven Results: Track record of “go live” success in software implementations and upgrades within customer scheduled outage windows. Managed the global ResortQuest database migration from JD Edwards financial and Ceridian HR applications to Oracle E-Business Suite, yielding over a million in cost savings over 5 years. Led project to migrate Sun UNIX servers to existing HP-UX servers in order to create increased operating efficiencies, yielding annual cost savings of thousands of dollars.
Value-Add to Clients: Recommended that a client migrate from network to locally attached file systems in order to improve EBS performance as a part of the upgrade, which was outside of the focus of the engagement. As a result, users reported that application performance improved significantly following the upgrade. Also, resolved an intermittent application outage issue for a customer by performing analysis peripheral to the actual project activity (Oracle database healthcheck).
