As a Physician Assistant for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, I conducted medical intake screening, ordered
diagnostic data, performed physical examinations and assessed initial duty and housing assignments for
inmates and detainees. To provide routine medical care, I triaged and scheduled appointments, conducted
sick call, ordered diagnostic data, made assessments, diagnosed and provided medical treatment. While
providing inpatient care to include those inmates undergoing mental health studies and drug
detoxification, I would provide routine, urgent and emergency medical care. In addition, I have
provided medical care to those detained in Federal Prison Camps, WITSEC, and in Segregated and
Control Unit housing. Further, I have provided medical care and follow-up to those inmates with Chronic
Medical Conditions to include those placed within the Cardiovascular, Pulmonary, TB/HIV and Diabetic
chronic care clinics. Lastly and to improve deficiencies, I have participated in performance improvement
measures.

As a Senior Supervisory Program Manager and as a Health Services Officer (Physician’s Assistant) in the
United States Public Health Service, I managed and directed the Health Care professionals deemed the
responsibility of providing medical, dental and mental health care to inmates and detainees confined to
the Federal Bureau of Prisons. In addition, I insured all administrative policies to include the JCAHO and
ACA ambulatory care standards were within compliance, and ensured the competency of medical staff
and on-site medical coverage. As a Health Services Officer and while providing routine medical and
urgent care to the inmate population, I managed the budget, insured communication to the executive staff
and remained available to respond with written and oral medical summaries to congressional and Federal
Court inquiries.
Department of the Army, 03/23/2003 – 12/30/2011
As a Supervisory Physician’s Assistant and as Chief of Occupational Health for the military and civilian
communities of Weed Army Community Hospital at Ft. Irwin, California, and Yuma Proving Grounds,
Arizona, I was responsible for assessing the needs, planning, initiating, implementing, evaluating and
managing a comprehensive Occupational Health Program. I have conducted specific screening and
medical surveillance to include the assimilation and interpretation of diagnostic testing, physical
examinations and patient assessments for pre-employment, periodic and /or annual medical, termination
and return to work evaluations. I have conducted interviews with patients who have sustained on-the-job
injuries and have frequently interfaced with Safety and Human Resources personnel. As a provider, I
have identified and managed specific illnesses and have responded to emergencies, in addition and as a
supervisor, I have ensured compliance rates to a wide variety of employee health programs to include
Hearing and Vision Conservation, Respirator Fit testing, Pregnancy Surveillance to include questionnaire
and work site evaluations, Immunization reviews and medical briefs for those deploying and/or
transferring overseas, and have ensured evaluation, treatment and serial lab testing for those exposed to
Blood Borne pathogens. As a subject matter expert, I participated in the monthly Environment of
Care/Physical Environment and Infection Control Committees, and as the medical liaison, I attended and
provided input to the Safety and FECA committee meetings. Lastly and with mission changes, I assisted
in the implementation of MEDPROs, and participated in soldier readiness for pre and post deployments
and follow up Periodic Health Assessments.

Following my retirement and while awaiting my Nevada Licensure, I shadowed examinations by
Dr. Victor Klausner, DO. The examinations included Occupational, i.e., musculoskeletal exams, periodic
examinations to include pre-placement and WTC History and Physicals and treatments to include joint
injections and Osteopathic manipulations.
Naphcare/Clark County Detention Center, 05/16/2012 – 01/06/2015
As a full-time Physician’s Assistant within the Booking Department of the Clark County Detention
of Las Vegas, I was responsible for providing routine, urgent and emergency medical services to the
detainee population. Major duties included triage of newly committed detainees, review of medical
documentation and physical assessments, prescription for medication, medical housing assignments,
Chronic Care assignments, making referrals to outside medical facilities, and utilizing the EHR system.
In addition, I would respond to the urgent and emergency medical calls within the housing units, provide
cursory support to the nursing and mental health staff, and clinical support to the custodial staff.
Evolution Health, 02/072015 – 03/15/2015
As an Out-Patient Physician Assistant and in a mobile environment, I would provide scheduled and
unscheduled direct patient care, that is, I performed health risk assessments and transitional care to
patients recently discharged from the Hospital networks in Las Vegas. Prior to scheduled visits, I assisted
assigned Nursing staff in longitudinal high-risk patient and advanced illness management. In addition, I
provided adjunctive care for home health, hospice and primary care services. To perform these services,
I would communicate directly with other professional disciplines, i.e., Physical Therapy and Medical
Supply Services, and team members assisting in the daily coordination of patient care, scheduling for
adjunctive services and Home Health Nursing. Lastly, I remained available for mobile call back services.
Concentra Urgent Care, 04/26/2015 – 04/14/2017
As a Physician’s Assistant and while partnered with Physicians in a busy 24-hour Urgent Care and
Occupational Medicine Center, I ensured quality medical services to include personal and Workmen’s
Compensation injury, DOT and OSHA physicals, follow up and return to work assignments,
accommodation requests by employers, and Travel Medicine. To perform these duties, I would perform
physical, mental status and medical history examinations, order and interpret studies/examinations, i.e.,
radiographs, and determine treatment to include medication orders, work assignments, splinting, applying
of local anesthetic, examining and cleaning wounds, incision and drainage, and suturing. For routine
specialty care, I would communicate with consultants to include Ortho Spine, Occupational Therapy,
Physical therapy and for emergencies, I would communicate directly with the receiving Emergency
Room. Results of quality care processes were reviewed quarterly for potential growth for new and/or
existing services. Lastly, I would meet with employers to discuss health and safety needs and when
available, I would conduct on-site workplace assessments, and following injury, I would notify client
representatives.
University Medical Center (UMC) Ambulatory Care, 05/22/2017 – 07/09/2017
As a Physician Assistant and ambulatory float, I provided urgent care services to the various populations
Within the various UMC ambulatory care centers, i.e., “Quick Care” clinics across Las Vegas, Nevada.
Partnered with a Physician, I provided primary and urgent care services to include medical histories,
ordering and interpreting studies/examinations, medication orders, and suturing and foreign body
removal. For follow up care and emergencies I would communicate with the various specialties of the
UMC. Prior to examining patients, I would initiate a template, make assessments and treat accordingly.
All medications were prescribed within the guidelines of the UMC.
Hurlburt Airfield Flight Medicine Clinic, 7/12/2017 – Present
As a contracted civilian Air Force Physician Assistant, I have been assigned to the Flight Medicine
Clinic. Answering to the Supervisory Flight Surgeon and Flight Commander, my primary duties include
the completion of a History and Physical Examination for those separating and/or retiring from service,
and to those who need annual occupational surveillance, i.e., Fire Fighters and Corrosion/Sheet Metal
workers, Housekeeping/Custodial personnel and Child and Youth Program Assistants, etc. Other duties
include disposition and completion of pre-employment examinations, providing overseas civilian
deployment and redeployment examinations and assessment, preparing waiver requests for the Flight
personnel, performing IFC 1/1A, II, and III physical examinations, completing mental health and periodic
health assessments, and review of profiles from duty and physical training. To perform these duties, I
frequently order and utilize Laboratory, Radiographic, EKG, Pulmonary Function and Audiology data. In
addition, I have requested specialty consultations to Cardiology, Pulmonology and Audiology at Eglin Air
Force Base. Lastly, I attend the weekly BOMC and monthly OEHG committee meetings.
