Ripley / Senior Men’s Fashion Designer
Falabella / Senior Men’s Fashion Designer
Ripley is a very large retail in Chile that has 40 stores across the country and also has stores in Perú and Colombia. At this company, the brands that I designed casual and formal wear (both) were Marquis (contemporary men), Ted Lapidus, Kenneth Stevens (adult men) and Cacharel. While I worked there I learned from the hand of Inge, Director for Lehmann International (Whitaker International), how to understand and define consumers by lifestyle . In Marquis we achieved U$20,9M in annual sales, 50% growth in 3 years.
As a Men’s fashion Designer my responsabilities were to:
-Select color stories, create inspiration boards, research trends in line, research fabrics, trims and raw materials.
-Travel at least four times a year to Europe and New York to purchase inspirational samples for collection.
-Prepare professional presentation boards with illustrations, Illustrator’s artwork and garment samples.
-Work with Technical Design in preparing specs from initial concept to tech packs.
-Develop new fabrics (composition, weight, structure) and approve labdips.
-Review samples and provide fit Comments to the Production team.
-Attend fittings and communicate changes.
-Work with Production to maintain design concept and garment quality throughout production process.
-Work closely with Visual team in order to create the mood board in stores.
-Review and maintain calendar timing.
-Monitor sales to determine successes and failures.
-In store visits.
-Travel to meet suppliers.
Falabella is considered the bigest retail holding from Latin America. It has 37 stores in Chile, 21 in Colombia, 13 in Argentina and 11 in Perú. I designed casual and formal wear (both) for the brands New Port (adult men), Basement (young men), and Paco Rabanne.
As a Fashion Designer my work was to:
- Create inspiration boards, updating when necessary .
- Select fabric/yarn for each individual style.
- Develop color palettes, new fabrics (composition, weight, structure) by style and approve lab-dips.
- Purchase inspirational samples for collection.
- Prepare sketches, flats and spec detailing for production team.
- Prepare Spec sheets with detailed technical information and trim sheets.
- Collaborate with Merchants.
- Review samples and provide Fit Comments to the Production team.
- Attend fittings and communicate changes.
- Work closely with Visual team in order to create the mood board in stores.
- Review and maintain calendar timing.

Mavesa / Men’s Fashion Designer
Mavesa is a Men’s Suits factory, that belongs to the Falabella Holding. I did my internship at the company and as soon as I finished I started working for them. At that time they didn’t have a men’s designer, I helped to increase 30% of the annual sales . The formal wear that I designed included tailored clothing, suits, shirts and outerwear for the brands: Christian Lacroix, Cerruti 1881, Paco Rabanne, Basement, Alaniz, Harris and Frank, New Port. As a Men’s Fashion Designer in Mavesa my responsabilities were to research for seasonal trends, colors, new fabrics for a preliminary designs and prepare the show room with the new samples. A er sales, I had to work with Technical Design in preparing specs from initial concept to tech packs and daily be present in the Production team throughout the development process to ensure the highest level of quality.
Also, in Mavesa I had to:
- Review and maintain calendar timing.
- Monitor sales and retail sell-through to determine successes and failures.
- Travel to China to research new suppliers and quality control. August 2005 / January 2010
