RÉSUMÉ\CURRICULUM VITAE ROBERT GARLAND

A significant assignment, as a member of a select group of network engineers, the Global Infrastructure & Systems Architecture Team was established in 2000, made up of Managers and Directors from the former Amersham, Pharmacia Biotech, and Nycomed businesses that now comprised the fully integrated Amersham Health-Amersham Pharmacia Biotech global networks. The mission for the team was primarily to manage the global networks including LAN infrastructures, but moreover security of direct Internet connectivity was critical, with primary circuits at the core datacenters: Amersham UK, Oslo, Uppsala, Arlington Heights & Piscataway. This group was responsible for comprehensive network security, change control, IP address assignments, and remote access VPN. Whilst continuing routine responsibilities at our respective local sites, and metropolitan areas, members of this team often lead IT projects as Project Manager; here are the projects that I lead until GE acquired Amersham in April 2004.

• Radiopharmacy network - $1.2M conversion from ISDN to T1; this project was presented to the business with first-year costs savings estimated at nearly

$500K and over $1M ongoing. ISDN costs were high and increasing data volumes were driving costs; additionally with the need to secure internal Internet access (content filtering and malware protection) plus the added benefit of robust VPN services for remote users, the ROI estimate was conservatively low;

• Redundant Nortel CheckPoint firewall devices at core datacenter - $650K, from Arlington Heights we configured each device including the management console for controlling policy changes to firewalls;

• Network monitoring using SolarWinds Orion, SiteScope, and OpenView

$250K;

• A key member of the Network Integration Team representing Amersham North America during the when GE acquired the Amersham businesses. 05/19/97

01/10/99

DATACENTER MGR & NETCOM ENGINEER (Supervisor: Mr. Roger Brunelle) Amersham North American HQ, 2636 S. Clearbrook Dr., Arlington Heights, IL 60005 In September 1996, Amersham acquired Medi-Physics with 2 US locations, 3350 N Ridge Ave., Arlington Heights, IL (known as NAH) and 900 Durham Ave., So. Plainfield, NJ (known as SP); but it struggled to integrate the systems and networks with core datacenter at Clearbrook (SAH).

• Fix networking issue at NAH - newly installed Cisco 1900 LAN switches were not communicating with network, Cat-5 UTP was not properly terminated at patch panels;

• Fix WAN link between SAH & NAH - a T1 circuit terminating on CSU\DSU bridge devices, the device at SAH had clocking errors;

• Upgrade NOS & network protocols - the business was planning conversion from home-grown MRP application to Windows based SQL application. A team of software developers where waiting for Windows NT & SQL; the network was IPX\SPX & SNA, I quickly deployed Windows NT 4.0 & SQL; upgrade Netware (3.12 to 4.1) and rollout IPv4 addressing;

• Upgrade SAH LAN - replaced 3-COM hub switches with Cisco 1900 series and installed fiber runs to critical areas, the Customer Call Center for order;

• Implement an IPv4 for all Amersham North America Networks;

• Network Integration Project for Business Mergers – for Amersham North America I lead network integration projects to incorporate Nycomed & Pharmacia Biotech networks with Amersham;

• Coordinator Y2K IT changes for Amersham North America locations;

• New Office Complex & Core Datacenter - to be constructed on NAH property; fully redundant requirements for office LAN & datacenter; NAH is 24x7x365 radiopharmaceutical manufacturing plant operating 3 cyclotron centrifuges producing radioisotope for diagnostics imaging; as Project Manager I was responsible for LAN, WAN, and Voice circuitry; working daily to interface with business leaders & stakeholders to ensure approval for project direction; I screened and hired design engineers for drafting blueprints for state-of-the-art fiber optic networks throughout the facility with redundant OC3 feeds for voice

& data networks; the business required comprehensive power redundancy, UPS, backup generators, and redundant power supply; I assisted with selection of General Contractor; construction began in late 1999 and completed in early 2001; overall project budget $150M of this the network and datacenter were $80M.

• Temporary networking at NAH (onsite trailers) during construction;

• Move critical business systems to NAH & relocate users;

• Close SAH facility.
