EXPERIENCE

Greets patients and vendors in a courteous, friendly manner with a smile. Interacts with staff and patients in the performance of assigned job duties in an efficient, courteous and effective manner.

Conducts pre-visit planning for office visits. Scans upcoming appointments for additional medical record information when necessary or needed.

Obtains medical records from other physician offices, hospitals, labs, emergency rooms and radiology prior to patient visit. This includes calling patients and confirming prior to their appointment.

Conducts screenings necessary for the provision of care in subspecialty departments.

Triage of incoming patients by obtaining vital signs, chief complaint, reconcile medication list, reconcile allergies and prepare patient for the visit.

Conducts phone triage when necessary. Prepares patients for procedures, provide basic patient care and examinations as directed, and assist providers with procedures.

Administers injections of medication or immunizations in accordance with approved nursing protocols. Observes patient for any reaction to medications, immunizations, treatments and significant incidents.

Cross trains to be able to perform all diagnostic procedures, i.e.; visual exams, ear lavage, EKG, Spirometry, all injections, helping with pharmacy requests, in house labs, and entering of all data in the Electronic Medical Record System.

Prepares and disinfects exam rooms for patient visits, restocking of the clinical area, exam rooms, and supply rooms. Sterilize/disinfect instruments when used (including autoclaving) and maintain medical equipment.

Excellent proficiency in the use of medical equipment and monitoring of medical equipment for proper working ability.

Appropriately document all nursing actions in the electronic medical record and review the chart (charting) for completeness, test results and billing.

Completes all “tasks” assigned (as well as covering for other Medical Technicians who may be temporarily absent). This includes responding to patient messages, prescription refills, lab results, referrals, home health agencies, medication prior authorizations, patient forms and follow up from physicians. All tasks are reviewed, addressed and marked appropriately before the close of each business day.

Responds to questions from patients, family members, faculty/residents, other health care providers in a timely and professional manner. Ensures patient’s medical messages are responded to within 24 hours Documents all patient conversations in the electronic medical record.

Demonstrates basic clinical skill and knowledge in specimen collection, which includes urine collects, cultures from eyes, nose and throat.

Administers oral and injectable medications. Cleans and washes wounds if necessary and change dressings. Administers oxygen, nebulizer and breathing treatment. Removes sutures and staples. Educates patients on peak flow meters.

Complete monthly audits, peer reviews, supply orders, and any additional reports needed for continuous quality improvement.

Retrieves, and appropriately responds to messages left on the telephone, fax and/or e-mail daily.

Participate in all staff meetings, education lectures and PCMH/QI improvement activities.

Familiarized with general policies and protocols for PCHC, and follow PCHC protocols related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality. Complete annual recertification for OSHA, Blood Borne Pathogens, HIPAA Compliance, and maintain annual record of all trainings.

Screens patients for medical care, allergies, medical surgical history and update them in the electronic health care system. Utilizes medical software and MS office documenting medical records resulting 100% accuracy.

Assists Physicians by taking vitals, medical and demographic information of patient and scheduling appointments. Performed EKG Testing.

Manages and oversees medical care for over 500 patients’ monthly including scheduling appointments and addressing concerns. Reviewed medications with patients for accuracy.
