Duties / Responsibilities (Singapore Office):
Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) Phase
1. Familiarization of the Project history / background / scope of work. Study of Detailed Engineering Design Data, Project Standards, Design Procedures, Manuals and other references. 2. Project is a brownfield type and most of the design calculations for the existing facilities / structures are already missing or got corrupted, my task is to make the STAADPro model / file of my assigned structures
(which are piperacks, pipe bridges, and multi-level equipment support structures) based from Client provided old engineering drawings, plot plans, and piping arrangement drawings. 3. As the electronic information given are in bulk and mixed-up, I was assigned to see / review each file and segregate them according to area / unit, and then segregate furthermore per structure item. 4. For some structure items that lacks information (i.e. missing engineering drawing sheets), I coordinated with
/ requested to the FW Structural Engineer assigned at site (Brunei) to provide as-built sketches of the structure. And in some cases, I was assigned by the Lead Engineer to go to site to investigate / do the as-built sketching.
5. Attend the BLNG (Client) safety training courses (in Brunei) and pass their exams, to be granted an ID badge which will give me right to access the existing plant premises to be able to conduct the above said structure investigations.
6. Prepare layout of additional structural supports for new pipelines that Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) will use to supply (high pressure) fuel gas to the Department of Electrical Services’ (DES) two new Gas Turbine Generators (GTG).
7. Prepare layout of additional structural supports for new pipelines that DES will use to supply (high pressure) steam to Brunei LNG Facility’s (BLNG) three new Waste Heat Boilers (WHB). 8. Investigate the existing structure and foundation’s strength capacities if it can withstand the additional piping, equipment, steel member loadings. Propose resolutions to the Lead Engineer in case the structure is found failing - such as strengthening the structural layouts (i.e. additional bracing systems), member strengthening (i.e. use of stiffening bars or combining sections), foundation enlargement (i.e. use of HILTI post-installed reinforcements), and additional tie-beams - just to name a few. 9. Assigned to provide an adequate size (using Hydraulic Institute Standard, ANSI HI 2.1-2.5 1994) and design a cooling water return pit supporting 2 - (1 ton) vertical pumps on the slab cover. 10. Study / adopt design procedures from Shell’s Design Engineering Practices (DEP v34). 11. Prepare design calculations of assigned structures (super-structures and foundations). Utilizing STAADPro and (excel, in-house) spreadsheet programs.
