Software Engineer
Start Right Ventures, New York, NY
Aug 2017 – Jan 2018
I was hired by this company to help bring the founders idea to life. I was tasked with building an application that allowed founders of startup companies the ability to pitch their ideas to some of the top investors in the country. The idea was to have the founders and investors meet in a production styled live streaming/video chat service. The founders would come into our office and we’d connect them with potential investors from across the country. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to stay in business long, so the demo we developed never got much exposure.
To build this we used AngularJS/HTML for the front end, Node.js on the server side, SQL for the database, and a framework called WebRTC for the real time video chat.
Web Development Intern
Discount Surgical Stockings, Brooklyn, NY
June 2016 – Aug 2016
I worked for an online surgical stocking company where I shadowed the company’s CTO. He taught me how the database was structured and worked; explained how to organize and develop an eCommerce website with hundreds of pages; and I used Tableau to help understand customer sales trends based on over a decade of sales data.
Web Developer/eCommerce Support/IT Support
Unzer Pharmacy, Williamsburg, NY
June 2015 – September 2015
I spent a summer working for Unzer Pharmacy as an overall “Tech Guy”. I spent most of my time there transitioning their business from an over the phone or mail order business to an internet-based business. Aside from that I acted as an IT guy in the office; I helped co-workers fix software issues, troubleshooted printers/computer hardware, and anything else they needed help with.
Additional
Web Development Bootcamp
Elevation Academy, Tel Aviv, IL
I spent a summer in between semesters learning the basics of web development and building various small projects. We learned HTML/CSS/jQuery/JavaScript at first to understand how things on the web are sometimes created. Then we learned AngularJS, Node.js, MongoDB and a myriad of additional libraries to make developing web apps easier using purely JavaScript. We completed one project a week over the 12-week course. At first the projects were relatively simple because we didn’t know much, but week by week the complexity of our projects grew as our knowledge of the material grew. My final project was a GitHub analytics app.
