Job Duties and Work Experience
I obtained an internship at the San Luis Mental Health Center in Alamosa Colorado. There, I was an outpatient school based therapist for severely intellectually impaired adolescence who also had mental health diagnostics and family related issues. There I learned the importance of family inclusion, community case management, collaboration with larger systems, harm reduction, and advocacy.
I went on and became a residential family therapist where I earned my professional counseling license and work for the next seven years. I became skilled at completing mental health assessments and treatment planning for parents, children, teens, and families. I worked with a wide variety of diagnostic disorders. I utilized family systems methods of care.
In 2008, I began addition post graduate education to earn my licensed specific to addictions. I worked at various private sectors and earned valuable community interventions research-based methods in outpatient care specific to driving with care curriculum, offender specific relapse planning and pro social skill development, as well as, minor in possession curriculum. I have provided both psycho- educational and treatment specific skills specific to substance abuse. I ran enhanced out -patient and after care groups for persons with substance abuse related issues at Summit View Community Corrections. I also began interning under Sex Offender Management Board approved listed clinical supervisors.
I eventually became a full operating Sexual Offender Management Board and Domestic Violent Offender Management Board evaluator/ treatment provider and went on to open my own private practice, Mental Insights, LLC. I performed forensic evaluations. for convicted sexual offenders and provided treatment services to males, females, and developmentally delayed adults who were convicted sexual and or domestic violate based offenders. I specialized in performing Child Contact Assessments related to adults who possessed risk. I performed trauma informed care (EMDR) to a wide variety of clientele. I have training specific to Trauma Focused- Cogntive-Behavioral Therapy practices for compounded and acute trauma related disorders.
In 2016 I became a clinical supervisor with the Division of Child Welfare. In 2017, I became a supervisor an a local opioids clinic where I performed direct services and internal quality assurance reviews and practices.
