oPerformed pre-audit review of the Pentagon Federal Credit Union’s BSA/AML/OFAC internal controls prior to the NCUA Regulatory Examination. Findings and recommendations made and accepted by Pentagon Federal Credit Union management allowed the bank to receive a satisfactory examination review of their BSA/AML/OFAC policies and procedures. The NCUA stated that the pre-examinations results and changes implemented was a key factor in being provided a satisfactory rating.

oAnalyzed/flowcharted operational functions of a new “Just-in-Time” inventory system for a VA cable company to determine inefficiencies and identify the significant weaknesses within the software, which fundamentally couldn’t be used by several of the operational departments. Findings and recommendations allowed management to identify to the software vendor changes needed to fully utilize the software and achieve the cost and operational efficiencies the company was seeking.

oOwner of a government contracting firm had lost $6M in six months. Analyzed financial records and individual project cost accounting and found internal control weaknesses in the project management monitoring reports. Findings allowed management to renegotiate the costs of several government contracts which were losing money monthly. In addition, found a lack of internal controls in several general ledger accounts and identified two principal payments to the organization’s operating line of credit which had not been posted to the outstanding loan balance, allowing management to recover nearly $125K in accrued interest. Through our findings and recommendations, the organization returned to profitability within a four-month period and successfully went public six months later.

oManaged the compliance internal control evaluation project verification of the seven authorized income streams to Freddie Mac’s Operational Charter.
