Dear Florida Department of Juvenile Justice:
I am looking to work within your organization as a Juvenile Probation Officer. As a Juvenile Probation Officer, I understand that I will be responsible for attending regular home visits with families and reporting on the children’s welfare, and collaborating with the state court system. I have previous experience working with families as a teacher’s aide in the classroom working one-on-one with students challenged with down syndrome, autism, and other challenging disabilities. In this role, I also provided self-care skills, and participated with students involved in academic activities and occupational therapies.
During my third semester at SJR State College, I worked as an intern at St. John’s County
Department of Juvenile Justice. I was able to observe and participate in the daily duties of a Juvenile probation officer. Throughout the four months, I was also included in assessment meetings of clients, learned how to login case files, and attended bi-monthly court case proceedings.
I would very much like to discuss opportunities about employment with your department. Thank you for your time and I look forward to further sharing my work background and experiences.
Sincerely,
Barbara J. Thompson
