Considerations included shock, vibration, and EMI requirements. Under contract to BAE Systems, Advanced Gun System (AGS) Work to be used in program DDG1000 next generation U.S. Navy Zumwalt Class Destroyer.

Design and development of MK41 Vertical Launch System test equipment, incorporating the SM3 missile naval platform. Work included Hammond 19" racks, packaging of VXI card cage, power supplies, fiber optic control unit, computers, and cable connector panels. Under contract to the Japanese Navy.

Work included castings, both as cast and machined, large assembly and detail drawing packages. Working with a defense contractor, in Aberdeen, MD. Development of conversion kits for earth moving equipment, dozers, scrapers, rollers ect.. Changes to existing equipment included: ” thk. alloy steel armor plate enclosures, incorporating 3” thk. bullet proof glass and air conditioned cabs. Work included carbon fiber lay-up tooling and process tooling, resulting in space shuttles outer skin protective shield withstanding over 2000 degrees F, upon re-entry. Design and development of tooling used on the X-37 composite space shuttle for Boeing/GE. Responsible for (SI) system integration of model assemblies, space allocation, weight management and promotion for final approval. Work to include conceptual proposals of retro-fit for the Sri Lanka Navy.

Lockheed Martin, Baltimore, MD (contract with Echelon Service Company)

Using Pro/ENGINEER modeling V2000i2 and Intralink file management system, design and development of DD21, next generation rocket launcher VLS2100, intended for retro-fit on most U.S naval battleships. Work included complete drawing packages of restrained fire proto-type, being responsible for plenum, uptakes, canister adapters, top plate and ablative approval. Work closely with IRAD and stress engineers resulting in a successful firing and contract fulfillment.

Design and develop Maintenance Assistants Module (MAMS) cabinet, housing electronic test equipment used in launcher diagnostics. Work included E/M packaging and complete drawing package with vibration and shock forces being the major constraints. Development of a new concept boasting 70% reduction in cost, Major redesign of Programmable Power Supply (PPS) including E/M packaging and drawing modifications for final approval by the U.S. Navy. Using Pro/ENGINEER modeling V-19. Design, model and development of staking fixture for assembly of machined parts for Hewlett Packard. Provided machined and assembly drawing packages of large composite vacuum rolls for DuPont, Zydel, division. Preliminary R.O.M. price quotations of carbon fiber tape lay-down machine for Allied Signal. Work included design package, including fabrication drawings, selection of purchased drive system, heaters, and mandrels for production of composite thrusters for aerospace.

Perform design of pellet analyzer for AG Products division. Redesign of laminator to lower costs for Cyrel division. Work included complete fabrication drawing packages.

Cytec Fiberite Inc., Newark, DE (contract with Day & Zimmermann, Inc.)

Using Pro/ENGINEER modeling V-19. Perform tool design and process development. Provide design, fabrication and installation of equipment supporting thermoset and thermoplastic composite parts for aerospace. Work included: fan blade containment case for next generation Pratt & Whitney jet engine and lay-up tooling for robotic production of Pratt & Whitney by-pass duct and flat plate tools for carbon fiber lay-down heads at Cincinnati Milicron. Was involved in major redesign of carbon fiber tow process resulting in "the best tape made in the world" as proclaimed by N.A.S.A. Filament winding machine reconfiguration and autoclave support tooling.

Design, fabrication and installation of process equipment to impregnate carbon fiber using an electro-static charging technique. Vendor liaison and engineering liaison to DuPont, Bradford, CT. Work focused on filament winding process technology and high- temperature mandrel design for thermoplastic filament winding, process development and winding head modifications. Market entry products include: high-speed rotors for electric cars, oil and gas drill shafting, bazooka barrels for the U.S. Army, underwater high-pressure vehicles for the U.S. Navy.
