Special Machine Tool Design Engineer: AutoCad 2020 & SolidWorks 2018 with PDM.

Experiences designing high precision high production powertrain equipment: large dial machines, assembly equipment, pallet type machines, crankshaft machines, lift and carry machines, (3) position transfer machines, free transfer machines, slant beds, Vertical (2) Spindle (3 & 5 axis) lathe machines, camshafts, deep hole gun drilling, engine test stands, transmission leak test equipment, power-wrench assemblies, and EOA tooling for Robots & high precision (ABEC 7) spindles with optional drawbars and thru coolant.

Over 30 years experience project management and designing and re-tooling work holding fixtures for cylinder heads, axels, engine blocks, transmission cases, crankshafts, camshafts, bearing blocks, connecting rods, intake and exhaust manifolds, differentials. Experienced for selecting thrust & radial bearings, sizing gears (spur & helical), servomotors, and hydraulic and pneumatic material handling applications.

Experienced designing fabrications, such as, large modular bases, integral bases, and wing bases, large columns, hydraulic/pneumatic clamping fixtures, and bearing slides. Other design experiences include: transfer bar assemblies, transfer drive assemblies, pallet registries, pallet fixtures, tombstone fixtures, probe assemblies, part orientation assemblies, load/unload assist, angular compound columns with slide assist, tombstone fixtures, modular conveyors, special bases using aluminum extrusions. I designed way type slides and guide bar assemblies. Many years designing gear trains for multi-spindle boring and drill heads, tap heads, and milling heads. My expertise is designing spindle drives using Fanuc servomotors.

20 years Tooling Supervisor/Project Engineering experienced. Responsibilities include; engineering meetings, controls line-ups, customer approval meetings, attended meetings for continuous improvement process, validate designs meet customer specifications, controlling time cycles, designs meet company standards, on time and within company budget. I directed in-house and outside design vendors with new product lines. Experience also includes liaison between manufacturing and engineering departments.

Created Tool Designs, such as: milling cutters with index-able inserts, rotary cutting tools, perishable tooling, conventional type tooling and quick-change tooling, adapters, 3 jaw chucks, and all servomotors. Made trips to customer plants such as; GM Tonawanda, Detroit Diesel, Cummins, and GM Flint Engine Plant, GM Flint Motors, Pontiac Motors, Massey Ferguson and Chrysler.

Experiences include designing multiple spindle drill heads for drilling, reaming, taping, boring and gun drilling. Heads consist of single deck and double deck gear trains. ABEC Spindles for quick-change tooling. I have designed deep-hole gun drilling assemblies for camshafts and cylinder head valve seats. Design milling spindles with drawbars using rotary type cylinders and thru spindle coolant system. Designed precision ABEC 7&9 boring spindles.
