ENERGY TRANSFER – Burlington, KY

Manager, Pipe Operations (2008-Present)

OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT:

Promoted to oversee all daily activities and functions of pipeline operations across a 3-state region (transport of up to 400,000 barrels of crude oil per day). Manage numerous storage tanks, meter terminals, pump station, and delivery points within operations. Direct team of 25 FTEs (supervisory and administrative staff) as well as 25 contractors on a per-project basis; recruit, hire, and retain staff. Plan, develop, and administer $13 million annual capital/expense budget. Ensure full compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT:

Lead team members, from intern engineers to full-time engineers, through phases and/or the full cycle of projects that include electrical substation redesign, pipe configuration design in tank farms, pipe design for process plants, and measurement applications for crude oil (to meet API criteria). Directed project managers in activities for cathodic protection applications on tanks as well as mainline applications. Repair applications for cross-county pipeline restoration projects and storage tanks (w/ volumes up to 90,000 barrels).

HIGHLIGHTS:

Decreased costs to the company significantly through in-depth reviews of contractual agreements, consolidation of vendors, and initiation of vendor agreements to provide materials/services at lower costs.

Achieved rapid-turnaround and quality goals for 2 major pipeline repair projects in the remote access of the Kentucky hills requiring the utilization of TDW stopple fittings.

Played key role in maintaining record of zero accidents through ongoing development of line segment; held weekly meetings for safety and collaborated with HES on implementing outside trainers for safety training.

Managed national incidents with emergency response for a crude oil leak in different states to achieve successful outcomes, working closely with the EPA to address and resolve issues.

Functioned as a Representative on the Incident Management Team for Sunoco Logistics to fill a variety of specialized positions within the organization.

Served as a Subject Matter Expert and Instructor for electrical, SCAD, and measurement with the Sunoco Logistics training team; worked with HR on creating tests for technicians to evolve to multi-crafted positions.

Contributed to design and set-up of MEITO Conference as a Committee Member; additionally served as a Committee Member on dead piping removal and flushing of seldom-used items.

TECHNICAL SUPERVISOR: Promoted to direct pipeline operations across a 2-state region that transports up to 250,000 barrels of crude oil per day (entire pipeline runs from Texas to Michigan), including maintenance, operational, and technical activities. Supervised, trained, and coached team of 8 full-time employees and 8 contractors. Planned and managed annual capital/expense budget of $8 million.

AREA SUPERVISOR: Led team of 6 technicians in activities involving pipeline’s electrical, mechanical, electronic, measurement, and SCADA installation/repair components across a 3-state segment (transportation of up to 400,000 barrels of crude oil daily, with 21 storage tanks, 8 pump stations, 5 meter terminals, and 7 delivery points).

Reduced overtime and downtime within the operations by 20% through developing and implementing inventory control program with push parts lists.

Increased control room team member efficiency and inventory throughput by 17% through installing backlog of capital PLC and SCADA equipment.

Achieved 35% annual winback of overtime and callouts as well as an additional 20% in MTBF through implementation of a successful Preventative Predictive Maintenance Program.

Ensured compliance with multiple state and local agencies, including the DOT, EPA, NEC, NACE, and others through effective management of technical activities.
