I have over 40 years experience on Design, Site construction, Supervision, Project Management and I have worked on Major Projects in the Mining and Petrochemical field, Onshore and Offshore and I have been working on PDS since 1995 where I was trained in Frameworks, Equipment modeling, Piping, Isogen and Drawing Manager.

I have been on projects from the Feasibility study on PDS, through the Design stage, then to site on the construction supervision stage.

I have been on projects where I have been given an area of the plant to do the design completely on PDS, the Concrete, using Frameworks, the Equipment from vendor drawings etc using Equipment Modeling, Steelwork and then the piping using Isogen to produce Isometrics for the Fabrication shop.

I have a wide experience in Checking the design on PDS or other computer means such as Mircostation or Autocad.

Site Project Manager (AUTOCAD)

As the Project Manager, my role was to supervise and oversee the construction on the Water Treatment Plant to assist the dredging of the Port of Hamilton. The work involved civil, structural, equipment and piping through 6 sea containers to 3 large units used in the process to recirculate the water back to the lake.

This position was working with companies AM/NS Calvent (USA), Arcelormittal Dofascao steelmills, Greenfields Ethanol on numerous site projects on the P&ID’s, design, checking and construction using Autocad.

2011-2014 AMEC Americias (CALGARY – CANADA) OIL & GAS - MINING

Senior Lead Piping/Checker (PDS & Microstation, Smartplant)

The requirement here was as Lead Piper for the Syncrude Projects for Feed and PreFeed projects. Then through to detail projects such as the WCMP Syncrude Project outside of Fort McMurray. My duties were to check the designs and Isometrics from the PDS Designers in the various areas which were Brown and Greenfield on the wide site areas. This involved interaction with other disciplines to ensure the isometrics were issued for construction on schedule.

2011-2011 FLUOR (VANCOUVER – CANADA) MINING

Piping Lead - Mining & Metallurgy ( Plant Layout Group, PDS, Smartplant)

The project here was the Altynalmas Gold (Kyzyl) Project in Kazakhstan. This Gold Project was progressed from the Feasibility Study, Basic Engineering to front end EPCM. My duties were to lead and manage a team of designers to layout the Process Plant site plans, from which 50 General Arrangements and sections were produced. Interdisciplinary discussions and meetings involving client input was ongoing until the Project was suddenly put on hold until the Process Requirements were completed.

2010-2011 AMEC (TORONTO – CANADA) ONSHORE OIL & GAS

Overall Piping Lead & Isometric Production Group Lead ( Management, PDS, Smartplant)

The project here was the Kearl Project in Fort McMurray and the Utilities Unit on this site. As the Lead of the Isometric Production Group, my duties were to lead and manage a team of designers to produce and deliver 300 isometrics per week. I then took on the role as the Overall Piping Lead (Area Design Lead, ADL) of the Piping Group with 70 designers and Engineers under me. I then progressed into the Central Engineering Group or completion’s team to answer RFI’s or questions from site in the Modulation yards in Korea and Alberta.

As Department Manager of the Piping Group within the Mining and Metallurgy Department, I had responsibility for assigned projects which included implementation and execution of work against the plan and budgets, ensuring reports, deliverables and other special contract requirements were completed on time, and resolving issues that may arise.

2006 FLUOR (CALGARY – CANADA) ONSHORE OIL & GAS

PDS Piping Designer (PDS & Microstation, Smartplant)

This project was for SipChem in Saudi Arabia and my position as a PDS Designer started on the Plant Layout of the Plot Plan. The work then moved onto the Distillation & Purification Unit modeling up the Equipment from Process Data Sheets and then modeling pipework around the unit. I then took responsibility of the piperack modeling running down the units and coordinating with the 10 different designers at the interfaces and Process, Structural and Electrical Disciplines and also with India for the interfacing piperacks. I was also involved in Smartplant 30 % client reviews.

2004-2006 KGS GROUP (WINNIPEG – CANADA) ETHANOL

Supervisor & Lead Piping Designer (AUTOCAD 2004, CADPIPE & 3D VISICAD)

My position as a Supervisor & Lead Piper over a team of designers involved the co-ordination of the Project and direction of work for the design and equipment procurement for a 130 million litre per year Ethanol Plant constructed on the site of the Husky Upgrader facility in Lloydminster Saskatchewan. Piping requirement for the project consisted of approx. 20,000 metres of small and large bore piping. This was a fast track project involving many new challenges in the speed of the Design and the Construction of the Plant. Design and Checking of Process P&ID’s, Distillation, Filtration, Milling and Mashing, Evaporation to the Production Plant. From Exchangers, Pumps, Tanks, Dryers to Piperacks. I was then required go to site and assist the client and the construction team as a consultant on any problems (RFI’s) or issues that would come up during the construction phase of the project.

2004 HATCH (TORONTO – CANADA) ALUMINA MINING

PDS Lead Piping Designer (PDS & Microstation V8, Smartplant)

The project at Hatch was the Boke Alumina Refinery in West Africa as a Feasibility Study and front end Engineering using PDS. This involved Plot Plan, Plant and Equipment layout and the design of the Precipitation Tanks, Cyclones, Pumps and all the associated pipework to the numerous tanks and areas on site during the layout stages.

2004 SNC-LAVALIN (EDMONTON – CANADA) ONSHORE

PDS Lead Piping Designer (PDS & Microstation, Smartplant)

My role at SNC was the Lead for the Piping Discipline for the Client, Nova Chemicals in Joffe Alberta. I was required to Estimate on a $10 million Project for a Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Building on site. This was then followed up with the Design and Plant Layout and Supervision of the Piping Section to complete the Project through to construction.

Various Projects for the client were Coordinated and completed during this period.

2003 KVAERNER CLOUGH JOINT VENTURE (PERTH – AUSTRALIA) MINING

PDS Piping Designer (PDS, Smartplant & Microstation)

My position at the Kwinana Plant was using PDS to design and extract Isometrics for Issue for Construction for the (SRV) Sulphur Recovery Unit on their Major Mining Project Upgrade. Tight deadlines were required and met on 1000’s of Isometrics.

2003 HALLIBURTON - KBR (ADELAIDE – AUSTRALIA) MINING

PDS Lead Piping Designer (PDS, Smartpalnt & Microstation)

Following the fire at Western Mining’s Roxby Plant, new pipework was designed and run through piperacks to the Copper Solvent Extraction Process Units around the plant. Isometrics were then extracted for Issue for Construction.

2001-2003 SNC-LAVALIN (EDMONTON – CANADA-ECUADOR) ONSHORE

PDS Lead Piping Designer (PDS & Microstation, AutoCad, Smartplant)

My role on this project was a lead PDS Piper supervising and designing on a Project in Ecuador for the client Techint. A 500kl Crude Oil pipeline was required across the mountains in which large Processing Units, Pump Stations, Tank farms and Plant Layout were required to be modeled in Piping and Equipment PDS using smart PDS P&ID’S. Followed by Isometric Extraction to AFC. This project was also required to be further designed on Site in Ecuador, South America. On completion of this project, I was put on as a lead PDS Piper on the Oil Sands Project UE-1 in Edmonton and in a supervisory role and as a PDS Piping designer. This was a revamp of an existing Coke Feeder area with new Equipment, Piping, Pipe supports and Equipment Layout.

2001 Fluor Daniel Tiga (PERTH - AUSTRALIA) OFFSHORE OIL & GAS

PDS Piping Designer (PDS & Microstation, Smartplant)

This project was on the Offshore Oil Platforms in the East Timor seas & involved using PDS Piping and the PDS Pipe Support Package to design the Piping and Pipe Supports. Additional steel was designed, where needed for pipe supports and then modeled.

Isometrics with pipe supports were extracted to ensure that any problems in running the Isometrics were fixed and that these isometrics could then be issued for construction with their pipe support MTO’s

2001 CoSyn (EDMONTON - CANADA) ONSHORE OIL & GAS

PDS Piping Designer (PDS & Microstation, Smartplant)

The project was the 4 Billion Syncrude UE-1 Expansion Project at Fort Mc Murray.

The scope of work involved modeling the Manholes and sewer lines across the whole site in preparation for the future new plant areas that CoSyn and Fluor Daniel were designing for the expansion. Using Equipment Modeling, Drawing Manager, Piping Designer, Smartplant, and this being the first time that CoSyn had used PDS on a project, there was a large requirement for setting up PDS and Coordinating with Fluor Daniel Calgary to add new Pipe Specs and upgrade PDS settings.

2000 ORLANDO WINES (BAROSSA VALLEY-SOUTH AUSTRALIA)

My position at Orlando involved working in the wine industry as a Project Manager to oversee and manage a number of projects on site and manage as well as design, co-ordinate, manage and control the consultants in the relocation of tanks and wine presses to their new Plant locations. This required civil works, structural, tank and stainless steel piping and their supports to be designed and constructed.

2000 BECHTEL (SANTIAGO CHILE SOUTH AMERICA)

PDS Piper and Checker (PDS & Microstation Windows NT4) MINING

The project was the 2 Billion Escondida Expansion Project Phase 1V.

The scope of work involved designing and checking the models and the vendors drawings of the various areas of the project against the design Models and Plant Layout.

Using Equipment Modeling, Drawing Manager, and Piping Designer, these areas included the Floatation, Concentrator and Ball Mill Areas.

1999-2000 SOUTHCORP (COONAWARRA-SOUTH AUSTRALIA)

My position at Wynn’s involved working in the wine industry as a Project Manager to oversee and manage a large number of projects on the maintenance side on site as well as design, co-ordinate, manage and control the consultants required to build 2 new tank farms with 80 Tanks & Fermenters. This required Plant Layouts, civil works, structural, tanks and stainless steel piping and their supports to be designed and constructed.

1999 FLUOR DANIEL (LONGFORD VICTORIA AUSTRALIA)

Site Supervision & Senior Design Draftsman ONSHORE OIL & GAS

Following the explosion and fire at the Esso (Exxon) Plant at the Longford Gas & Oil Petrochemical Refinery, my requirement was to work on site in the restoration team and design and check new pipelines with site sketches designed and sent to the PDS Team to be modeled in 3D. Isometrics needed to be drawn and then site supervision given to the construction crew in the installation of new pipelines and their supports for the upgrade of the Plant.

1998 BECHTEL (ADELAIDE AUSTRALIA) MINING

Senior Design Draftsman (PDS & Microstation Windows NT 4)

The scope of work was on the Olympic Dam Expansion Project at Roxby Downs for Western Mining where I was required to answer Site Queries & any problems during the Construction Phase and Commissioning Phase of the Project in the Smelter, Hydromet, Concentrator & Auxiliaries Areas. These were then required to be modeled in PDS using Piping Designer and Drawing Manager and the isometrics using Isogen were then extracted for site fabrication.

1998 LURGI AUST. (BRISBANE AUSTRALIA) MINING

Senior Design Draftsman (PDS & Microstation Windows NT 4)

My duties at Lurgi were modeling in PDS for Western Mining, Queensland Fertilizer Project. I was responsible for certain areas of the Plant Layout and to design & model in 3D using Frameworks, Equipment, Piping Designer, and Drawing Manager to design a new Sulphuric Acid Plant at Mt Isa Queensland. P& ID’S were also required to be drawn up and implemented into the design.

1997-1998 FLUOR DANIEL (MELBOURNE, ADELAIDE & OLYMPIC DAM) MINING

Site Supervision & Senior Design Draftsman (PDS & Microstation Windows 95)

While at Fluor I continued my experience on PDS & Microstation while still working on the Olympic Dam Expansion Project at Roxby Downs Central Australia. The work involved producing Plant Layout Drgs in the Hydromet & Concentrator Areas of the plant using Piping Designer, Equipment Designer, Drawing Manager & Isogen to produce isometrics and their pipe supports.

The project was moved to Adelaide in 1998 where I was part of a completions team in which my duties were to handle all Site Queries for Construction in the Concentrator Area and to bring the model up to date with the changes and extract the isometrics.

I then moved to Site at Olympic Dam Central Australia where my duties were to produce drgs of the Smelter Building for the Construction Supervisors on Site and to assist and supervise during the construction phase where needed.

1996-1997 BECHTEL (MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA) MINING

The scope of work was on the Olympic Dam Expansion Project at Roxby Downs where I was trained on Plant Design System (3D Modeling) & 3D Microstation. It was my responsibility to go on Site and look at the requirements to run new pipework

along a new 1400m Piperack & using PDS to show the new pipe runs, pipe supports & their pipeline off-takes to other Consultants scope of work.

I was also required to design and support the steam tracing for all this area.

Duties included to check all P & I. D’s, general arrangements & isometrics on units for the new Cracker at Shell’s Oil Refinery Geelong to see that all the equipment, pipework, supports & structure could be installed as designed. Other work included a new loading arm, pig launcher & receiver docking wharf for Mobil Oil Refinery Yarraville. A fire protection system for Esso Bass Strait Oil Platforms, Snapper, Halibut, West Kingfish & Mackerel, etc., were also designed & it was my duty to check the ‘As - Builts’ of these platforms.

1988 -1990 PETROLEUM REFINERIES OF AUSTRALIA -MOBIL

Duties included Supervision & design of a 3 level piperack and supports 1 kl long from two tank farms & their associated pumps & equipment to the smelter for which I designed the Copper Cooling Jackets & kls of water cooling pipework around the smelter.

1985-1986 PETROLEUM REFINERIES (AUST.) Pty. Ltd. -Mobil

Design Draftsman. ONSHORE OIL & GAS

Whilst onsite at the Altona Oil Refinery, work included to Mobil standards and codes, the blending area from P & I.D.’s & to show modifications in isometric form to existing pipework & pumps. Long sections of pipelines in turn had to be steam traced and trapped. Other work involved showing “as built” general arrangements of various levels of pipework & modifications as required.

1985 WORLD SERVICES

Design Draftsman. FOOD PIPING

The work here involved working on Site at H.P. Products in North Altona where a major extension was being carried out to their tank farm & an old building. Seven new stainless steel tanks were to go in with new pipework, pipe supports & various instruments to be tied into the existing works. Working from P. & I. D’s, & while checking site measurements, isometrics had to be drawn up & sent to the shop for fabrication & then Supervise their installation during Construction.

1984 - 1985 PALINI CONSULTING ENGINEERS.

While working at Palini’s, duties included a wide field of engineering & drafting which ranged from piping, civil, structural & mechanical work. A majority of this work was required on Site at the Shell Oil Refinery, Geelong. The field of work ranged from running new pipe of varying sizes through piperacks to different areas of the plant and tieing into the appropriate equipment, while at times doing the civil & structural changes where necessary. Other work included checking of the Polypropylene Plant P. & I. D.’s, drawings, as this plant was to be duplicated overseas. Whilst also at Palini’s I was required to design & detail for shop manufacture & to stringent D.L.I. requirements, the first Decompression Chamber for Esso’s Oil rigs in Brass Strait to be designed in Australia in the last ten years.

Designing & detailing pipelines for Santos Pty. Ltd. In the Cooper Basin Region, Qld. While working from flowsheets & drawing up pig launchers & receivers & the associated pipework which is necessary for the function of the transportation of fuel & gas through the required pipeline.

1981 KOCKUMS INDUSTRIES.

Design Draftsman. ONSHORE OIL AND GAS

Design & detailing pressure vessels & associated valves & support structures on the Gas North West Shelf Development Project, W.A. This consisted of six silos, two blending tanks & one cutting tank, which were needed for the production of cement. Piping was then required to run to each vessel from Air Receivers & then down to the wharf for delivery.

1981 CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES.

Design Draftsman. BREWERY

Detail design drawings of stainless steel lines & modifications to existing Beer Headers & Valve lines to provide for future expansion of plant. Onsite measurements were needed for the design of drawings & completion of work.

1981 MINECO MINING & ENGINEERING CONSULTANTS. (CRA)

Duties required were designing & detailing Air Blower Ducts for the filtration cells in the Flotation area of the Bougainville Copper Plant, New Guinea. Other work included running raw water lines around the Primary Grinding & Flotation areas to various pumps & motors.

1981 GROUP TECH. PTY. LTD.

Design Draftsman. OFFSHORE OIL & GAS

Detail design drawings & isometrics for Petroleum Refineries Altona -Mobil. on site. Other work included off shore visits to Esso’s platform Halibut, for detail designs of pipe and pipe supports. Also other projects included drawings on two pipe laying stingers for Norway, where numerous isometrics were needed to show the pipe & associated valves & fittings, to enable the raising & lowering of the stringer at the rear of the offshore pipe laying barge.

1980 - 1981 DAVID E. PRICE & ASSOCIATES.

Detail design drawings & isometrics for Petroleum Refineries Altona -Mobil. on site.

This project involved working around the Boilers & taking measurements to enable the detailing of drawings to convert from fuel to natural gas. Numerous site inspections were required to run a 150 mm pipeline from one end of the plant to the other through piperacks.

Design Draftsman ONSHORE OIL AND GAS

My duties required detailed drawings for the Sulphur Recovery Tank at Shell Oil Refinery Geelong. Other work required was the feasibility studies & drawings for Shell Oil Singapore.

1980 ALFA - LAVAL

Design Draftsman FOOD PIPING

Detail design drawings using all stainless steel pipes & fittings showing C.I.P. Spray Cleaning Systems in three large cheese conveyors on site.

1979 - 1980 NEWPORT POWER STATION.

Design Draftsman POWER PIPING

While onsite, detail drawings & isometrics were required of small bore piping to be run around the power station during construction of the plant.

1979 D.H.P. CONSULTANTS.

Design Draftsman OFFSHORE OIL & GAS

Design drawings & isometrics of pipes, pipe supports were required for such projects as the offshore platforms for Esso in Brass Strait & Shell Oil Refinery Geelong.

1977 - 1979 MAURI ENGINEERING.

Detail design drawings were required of stainless steel pressure vessels & tanks related to the food industry, such as Carlton United Breweries & South Australia Breweries. The work involved receiving contract requirements, drawings & detailing the complete drawings for the
