Dear Hiring Manager,

After several years of working in various professional settings, I am currently pursuing a Receptionist position within your organization. Based on my research of the company, I believe I would easily adapt to the work environment as the qualifications align with, not only my skills and competencies, but also with my passion to work directly with people. Because I am self-motivated and eager to learn, I am confident that I would be able to grow with the company correspondingly. I have proven experience working in positions that require teamwork, utmost confidentiality and integrity, which is why I believe that I would be a good fit for this position.

I am able to foster healthy working relationships with different departments while maintaining policies and procedures; I have excellent oral and written communications skills; I am also very willing and eager to learn new things. I am highly organized and detailed, and I am confident that I will bring these key strengths to this position.

I currently work at Thornton Grout Finnigan LLP, a boutique law firm in Toronto’s financial district. I commenced employment as an office clerk and was promoted within six months to Marketing Coordinator and Administrative Assistant after demonstrating a passion for excellence and a desire for growth within the company. While TGF is a boutique firm, it has a proven reputation and competes with many of the ‘big firms.’ With a smaller team, I am required to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and meet tight deadlines on a daily basis, while maintaining confidentiality and tact. I am also trained to cover many other positions within the firm to ensure that efficient workflow is consistently maintained. This has given me the opportunity and tools to grow independently and to seek out and identify opportunities to offer support in areas outside of my specified role.

I was previously employed at Oxford Learning Centre, which provided a new outlook on different training methods and techniques. Due to the location of the office, I have been subjected to an entirely new demographic, where I have learned to competently overcome the language barriers and culture differences involved in many work situations. This has helped me to further develop my communication skills and has assisted in making me well-rounded in serving clients efficiently and effectively.

With this said, I have several transferable skills that parallel the qualifications of the position and I look forward to the knowledge and skills that I would learn if I were given the opportunity to work in your company. I am confident that my experience and personable disposition would be an asset.
