Accomplishments:

Oversaw ~$500M in annual spend successfully at Teleflex, Direct and Indirect materials and services, during excessive revenue growth for business, going from ~$150M in sales annually to ~$2B in less than 10 years. Reorganized purchasing organization, as large as 40 FTE’s, 3 times depending on business changes, needs, and objectives. Supplier consolidation (reduced 50% over last 10 yrs.), training, contract compliance and management also significantly contributed to this accomplishment.

In 2002, developed and implemented global strategic sourcing strategy at Teleflex. Created Category/Commodity management structure in decentralized, matrix environment focusing on; plastics, metals, packaging, purchased components, purchased finished GOODS, and key services, i.e. Logistics, enabling supplier and material spends to be focused, synergies to be leveraged, supplier relationships to be formed and contracts executed.

Successfully implemented Category/Commodity Management globally, achieved over $150M in direct material cost savings/cost of goods sold (COGS) over last 15 years at Teleflex by strategically leveraging spend, supplier and material consolidations, engineering changes (VAVE), effective negotiations, use of TCO, and Target costing methods by establishing formal CIP process. Conducted routine supplier cost down events, i.e. Peel the Onion. Successfully met 5% year-on-year cost reduction KPI every year, as well as, attained all corporate goals for major cost down initiatives.

Project Leader for Strategic Materials & Sourcing Opportunities.

Lead the development of TFX’s Supplier Risk Mgmt. initiative due to exposure from being sole sourced on most critical requirements, as well as, increasing material regulatory requirements, i.e. Conflict Minerials, RoHs, Reach, etc…Managed program after implementation. Proactively mitigated several supplier risk concerns successfully using the controls and remedies/contingency plans put in place for every critical purchase requirement from it’s conception.

Co-developed 1st sales and operations planning (S&OP) process at Teleflex, improving focus, alignment and coordination of all key inputs, enhancing supply chain functions, providing same objectives and improving customer service. Served as supply side champion and facilitated operational meetings for 5 years.

Led Sourcing involvement in development of Teleflex's Stage Gate New Product Development (NPD) process. Participated for Sourcing in all NPD project gate reviews, providing Sourcing's input and ability to influence coordination and gain compliance for Strategic Sourcing strategy implemented. New Product Development at Teleflex, generated ~ $500 M incremental sales Revenue during tenure, including release of Visistat, Hemolok, ARROW CVC & PICC products and line extensions, Vitacare, EZ IO, etc.

Led Sourcing’s role in 13 total/9 successful mergers and acquisitions (M&A’s), having executed Due DILIGENCE and INTEGRATION processes, involving identification of purchasing synergies, conducting talent assessment, retaining key talent, assessing data, ERP systems, and quality controls. Initiated Cost Down project efforts to leverage sourcing synergies, often used to justify acquisition, in addition to potential new business. ARROW International acquisition in 2007 was largest at $2B while at Teleflex.

Developed and coordinated Sourcing’s response to FDA Corporate Warning Letter post-ARROW acquisition. Led Quality System Improvement Project team focused on Code 820 purchasing code requirements, involving bottom-up assessment, revamping, socialization, and implementation of key processes and controls.

Oversaw ERP System Implementations for sourcing: supported implementation of QAD at Weck, and later SAP (Project Sirius/Procurement Super user) at Teleflex due to significant business growth while at Teleflex; Impact: Consolidated 8 separate ERP’s and Business Systems, Est. $40-50 M cost savings realized from process improvements and reorganization.
