Self- Private Contractor
March 2021–Current
I was a gig delivery driver via different apps like Uber Eats, Shipt, Grub Hub, Instacart and more. I really enjoyed the freedom and ability to work my own schedule and as much as I wanted. Sadly, my vehicle broke down beyond repair.
Restoration Counseling and Community Services (RCCS)- Sober House Manager
May 2012–November 2012
As a residential Sober House Manager, I lived in sober housing, a 4 plex with up to 25 men between each unit. I would do intake with new residents, even pick them up from the county jail or workhouse if needed. I would oversee room inspections for cleanliness as well as contraband. Also administer breathalyzers and drug tests if needed for the program and or probation.
Two meetings were held weekly at the beginning and end of the week with the entire house for check ins and to address any concerns. On Thursdays a 12-step meeting would come to the house, AA, NA, and I would chair the CGA (Criminal Gang Members Anonymous) meeting on alternate weeks.
I would take residents on shopping trips and guide them on smart and nutritional shopping as well as other domestic things we sometime have to relearn in recovery.
I would also take residents to doctor appointments as well as to the county to help those who needed to sign up for assistance. On a few occasions I was called upon to advocate for some residents to the courts as well as probation and parole.
RCCS had a 110% increase in graduation the six months I served. It was the first group of guys that would engage the community for crime watch as well as set up basketball games in each park in north Minneapolis with the youth. It was an awesome summer. I am a proud alumnus of that program.
