As a building access control guard my duties ranged a follow:
-To control access and egress to the chancery and its satellite facilities in the American embassy
- To make sure nobody is getting access to any American facility without proper authority
-To provide physical screening and searching of incoming visitors and deliveries through the operation of specialist screening equipment
-To fill out subordinate guards’ attendance and leave slips on a daily basis
-To operate the embassy visitors’ reception desk, issuance and control of access badges, maintenance of necessary records, dealing with telephones inquiries and visitors
-To operate barriers control to let in or out vehicles of the mission or visiting the mission facilities
-To make sure, at a first level, that visa applicants are not impostors before they can get access to the consular services
-To report every incident that occurs at any guard post, during our shift, to the regional security officer
-To perform the maintenance and calibration of certain work materials such as the security itemizers and X-ray machines
-To perform any other duties as assigned by the regional security officer.
