I would have face to face contact with our clients when they would drop their environmental samples off to our lab. I was in charge of documenting the chain of custody, once it came to our lab. I would unload the clients samples and line them up according to the clients chain of custody. Once lined up, I would compare the information listed on the chain of custody versus what was listed on the sample labels. I would notate any discrepancies and get client approval before proceeding any further. Once we had client approval, we would enter the sample information from the chain of custody into the LIMS system. Once all sample IDs and information was entered, I would run off new labels and label each sample. Once labeled, I would store the samples in the appropriate location for our labs to come and run. Get client sample kits ready for them to pick up or ship them out to various locations throughout the US. I worked in the shipping and receiving department, so I was responsible for unloading our daily truck deliveries from UPS and FedEx. I also worked in the login department, where I was responsible for unloading and labeling client samples once I entered the correct information into our LIMS system.
