In this pivotal role, I have taken the lead in delivering the Homemade Explosives (HME) course, crafting practical exercise scenarios and executing explosives demonstrations with precision. My leadership as Range Safety Officer and Explosives Control Officer during live fire exercises ensures that safety protocols are strictly adhered to. Having facilitated over 180 ATF HME courses, I am committed to fostering a safe and effective training environment while mentoring new instructors and guiding teams through complex operational challenges. I facilitated comprehensive training for federal, state, and local first responders, focusing on Field Force Extrication. My leadership in HUMINT collection and intelligence analysis resulted in actionable insights that shaped operational strategies and contributed to mission success. I trained and mentored a 20-member Afghan National Police team while assigned to Task Force 50, Polish Special Forces and Seal Team 10 enhancing their investigative capabilities and fostering collaboration among U.S. and allied forces. My mentorship of Afghan National Police in undercover operations led to significant operational achievements, while my response to suicide bombings underscored my commitment to public safety and evidence preservation. I directed training initiatives for over 20,000 first responders, covering a range of critical topics including explosive device recognition and incident command. My leadership in developing standard operating procedures for the Pentagon Force Protection Agency Bomb Squad established a benchmark for best practices in explosives safety and response. Through innovative training methodologies, I improved the readiness and capability of military and civilian personnel to respond to WMD threats.

Bomb Squad Officer, Huntsville Police Department 1995-2004 As a senior member of the Bomb Squad, I was responsible for the safe disposal of improvised explosive devices and commercial explosives. My leadership in post-blast investigations and proficiency in advanced bomb technician techniques have been integral to enhancing community safety. I also developed and led specialized training courses for law enforcement personnel, elevating the skill set of the entire team. Investigations Officer, Huntsville Police Department 2001-2004 I managed complex investigations ranging from theft to homicide, leading teams in forensic collaboration and evidence management. My proactive approach in developing training materials and educational aids significantly improved investigative capabilities across the department.

Hostage Negotiator, Huntsville Police Department 1994-2004 In this critical role, I led hostage negotiation efforts and provided training to law enforcement officers in negotiation tactics. My leadership helped establish protocols that have proven effective in high-stress situations.

Homicide Investigator, Huntsville Police Department 1993-2001 I managed intricate death investigations and coordinated with forensic experts, significantly contributing to the successful prosecution of numerous cases. My extensive courtroom experience has established me as a respected authority in evidence management. Team Leader, Criminal Narcotics Investigator, Huntsville Police Department 1985-1993 I led major narcotics investigations and coordinated with federal agencies, making over 500 dynamic entries during search warrants. My leadership on the regional drug task force strengthened inter-agency collaboration and operational effectiveness in combating drug trafficking.

Clearance Information

Prior to retiring from the Huntsville Police Department in 2004, I held a Top-Secret Clearance from the Federal Bureau of Investigations, assisting in domestic terrorism and rendering safe improvised explosive devices. I also completed the ATFE Instructor Development Process Course at the National Center for Explosives Training and Research in November 2015.
