Current Activities:
College of Natural Sciences Research Administrators Group I lead the College of Natural Science’s Research Administrator’s group. It was created out of a need to develop uniformity in policy and compliance issues as well as pinpointing areas within the college where inefficiency and inconsistency exists. The group has worked with the Dean’s Office, OSP, ITS and other UT offices to develop a plan to clarify or revise policies where needed. A goal of the group is to train and develop research administrators campus-wide so membership requirements were adjusted to include other colleges. As the group leader, I developed a web-based software plan to efficiently track contracts and grants from onset to expiration for all pre- award and post-award actions, including monthly transaction data and financial forecasting ability. The group is currently working with the Dean’s Office ITS and the Texas Advanced Computing Center in cooperation with OSP, the Provost Office, and the Office of Accounting. I suggested to the group we write a proposal to the Dean’s Office for funding to cover travel associated with training opportunities, speakers, and training materials.
