Founder of the Eden Minority Business Association while serving on the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce of Eden, NC. Encouraged local minority business owners to join and participate in the Chamber of Commerce. IMPACT: Increased minority business participation by 95%. Actively promoted minority businesses in Chamber activities. Implemented and created an academic college scholarship program for the local High School. Provided college funding to a local High School senior that maintained a 3.0 grade point average and participated in 10 hours of community service weekly. The selected senior must be a female student or minority student with a handicap. IMPACT: Awarded $1000.00 scholarships to 16 students during an eight year period. Served on the City of Eden Planning Committee to organize Rifest, an annual event to promote the city mall and to attract businesses. Sold vendor booths, provided food, live entertainment and carnival rides, and offered an open forum for political candidates. IMPACT: Attracted tourists from surrounding counties, increased city revenue, and encouraged the promotion of small businesses.

Spearheaded the Inmates Day Out for the Rockingham County Prison Ministry. Coordinated an annual event for local inmates and their families. Activities included choirs, music and guest speakers.
