In response to the “Modernization” initiatives of Payments Canada and other strategic business needs, BMOC is implementing a new Reference Architecture which includes the implementation of a Payment Hub. The Enterprise Payments Reference Architecture defined by BMOC isolates legacy payments engines from orchestration, payments services and financial messaging to enable modernization and the extension of new services while reducing reliance on payment engines, and the associated legacy risk.
At present, BMOC’s Canadian Account owners on OLBB (BMOC’s Online Banking for Business platform) cannot send Foreign Exchange (FX) Wires in a currency that is different from their funding account currency. FX Wire support is currently only offered through BMOC’s branch services, i.e., account holder must physically go into the branch to initiate these transactions.
