Industrial Designer that is driven to create and produce according to customers’ requests the top-of-the-line solutions. Known to create from concept to prototype, bring to final stage for production release a superior product that enhances the customers’ product. Throughout my career with Milsco Manufacturing. I primarily headed projects with Harley Davidson and their engineering teams. I was responsible for the design and creation of seats, saddlebags, and accessories for over 150 products.

Over 29 years of pride and passion in the creation of many Harley Davidson products from initial concepts to the final productions’ pieces.

Senior Industrial Designer: 2015-2024 - Industrial Designer II: 2003 – 2015

Worked Directly with Customers (primarily Harley Davidson- but also included, Polaris, John Deere, Case, along with other turfcare and powersport customers). Would either work with a design from the customer or have creative freedom to provide a design that would suit their requirements.

From selected design, would create an initial sample by hand cutting/carving/shaping the seat shape from a block of foam, along with determining proper base (support).

Would create a cover (based on selected design) by hand and determine pattern shapes, sewing techniques, along with design elements (Heat Seal, Embroidery, etc.) and work with vendors on selection and testing to meet customer requirements. Through the sample phase- the design would be changed/adjusted and would apply those changes for the next sample. Would work directly with internal engineering and manufacturing to ensure the design is acceptable and cost efficient for the company and meets the customers’ target.

Work with foam, plastic, bracketry (majority of early designs were handmade/crafted for prototype samples).

Sewing materials with Industrial Sewing Machines Vinyl, Leather, other various materials, Stitch types, zippers, etc

Processes: Heat Sealing (RF Sealing) for details, (i.e. Logos, cover designs, etc.) Embroidery, Riveting along with typical work shop equipment (band saw, table saw, etc)

Developed a process to apply a design specific label from a supplied vendor to a seat cover through RF process (HD 100th Anniversary) -prior to this they would be typically applied by gluing/heat transfer.

Validation of materials and overall design of product: Working with Product Engineering to have testing done per customers requirements.

Manufacturing Engineer: 1998-2003

Worked internally with Engineering Dept and Industrial Designers on designs for products to successfully implement into manufacturing for production. Oversaw development of products and worked directly with production, management, and customers to ensure successful production of products and meet needs of all shareholders.

PFMEA/DFMEA, PPAP, ISO, 5S, Stage Gate process.

Set up workstations for production with ergonomics and efficiency.

Approved Designs and set up products (including BOM’s) along with materials, for all aspects of production for new products.

Sewing/ patterns, Molds for cushions which had to approve to proceed for production.

Entering BOM's, routings, developing and validating processes, (PPAP) implementing work centers, setting up workstations, designing all manufacturing tools/fixtures etc. that may be required to produce the product.

Working with suppliers on new or existing components or equipment,

Review of final design with engineering of new product for product launch.

Approving of product prior to release: (Foam/Filler approval, Base design approval, Sewing and Upholstery validation, (including R/F heat sealing validation).

From initial product launch would maintain manufacturing of product(s) through supporting production in addressing any problems and issues (At times participating in Kaizen events, etc.) that would impact overall production of the products to ensure the customer would receive a quality product on time and exceed their expectations.

Model Lab/Mold Shop Technician 1995-1998

Created model molds for projects, working with the product development teams and production to provide patterns for prototype and production tooling.Creating molds from various materials: (Casting/shaping materials, fiberglass, epoxy, foam, wood, plastics and other resources.

Constructed models for prototype and production patterns working directly with Engineering and Industrial Design departments.

Created production patterns for seat filler production molds from prototype seat forms.

Developed samples to validate for production tooling.
