AERA ENERGY (Shell & ExxonMobil JV), Bakersfield, California - Senior Reservoir Engineer 2011 – 2023
Led production monitoring activities in the South Belridge and Lost Hills fields, optimizing production rate on: o Heavy Oil reservoir – 3k BOP, keeping the annual decline rate at less than 10%. o Diatomite reservoir – 20k BOPD, keeping the annual decline rate at less than 4% through effective Voidage Management.
Led asset development initiatives:
o Heat-mining infill project on South Field Section 18 – more than 20 vertical wells; 80% success rate with production more than 15 BOPD, without steam injection support. o Down-dip steamflood expansion on South Belridge Field, Section 20 – 16 producers and 4 steam injectors on 4 injection patterns; producers reached peak production of more than 20 BOPD. o Identified more than 2300 producers (replacement and infill/expansion type) on Belridge and Lost Hills fields Diatomite reservoir, as part of the multi-annual reserves master development plans.
Led the reserves review and booking process for Base production (PDP) and Development projects (PUD): o Production forecasting – type curve generation and forecasting at vintage level. o Investment and Operations Cost evaluation.
o Economic analysis.
o Projects planning and scheduling.
Analyzed pressure data IHS RTA and production expectancy for: o Different frac designs – gate decision on developing Southeast Lost Hills field. o Facilities upgrades – pressure reduction in the gathering system on Lost Hills Williamson field – 2 million investment, 80 BOPD production increase, for 10 psi pressure decrease.
Evaluated the company's reservoir portfolio for CCUS opportunities – resulted in identifying the storage site in Middle Belridge, with the storage target of 1.6 million metric tons of CO2 per year. CHEVRON (San Joaquin Valley Business Unit), Bakersfield, California – Reservoir Engineer 2008 – 2011
Led production monitoring activities in the Coalinga Field – optimized production rate on an area with 2,9k BOPD, keeping the annual decline rate at less than 10%.
Led asset development initiatives:
o Heat-mining infill project on Coalinga Field Section 25 – 5 wells with horizontal laterals between 800 and 1500 ft: four wells coming on production with more than 25 BOPD, without steam injection support. o Down-dip steamflood expansion on Coalinga Field Section 36 – 6 producers and 5 steam injectors; producers reached peak production of more than 20 BOPD.
Led the reserves review and booking process for Base production (PDP) and Development projects (PUD): o Production forecasting – type curve generation and forecasting. o Investment and Operations Cost evaluation.
o Economic analysis.
o Projects planning and scheduling.
Applied innovative technology equipment to address operational challenges – used MeshRite completion in high-temperature producers due to steam breakthrough, on Coalinga Field, Section 24; mechanical failure rate decreased by 75%.
