Managed a group of 15 engineers creating tooling and automation projects, costing $2K to $8M. Lead new product launches using DFMEA and interdepartmental focused groups to produce efficient, high volume, low scrap assembly machines and tooling. Perform estimated project cost, equipment concepts, schedules, reports, labor allocation. Key Achievements:

Increase communication between Engineering, Molding, Production, Packaging, Stamping, 1st2ndOps, Sales and MFG by involving them in new product launches and involving them in multiple stages or the projects.

Reduced engineering cost by 43%. By implementing standard practices, training and mentoring.

Reduced assembly/production overhead cost by 17.2% by creating cost effective, low maintenance, operator-friendly assembly machines using DFM, LEAN principles and creative designs.

Made improvements to existing equipment by continuous improvement, lean practices, 5s and implementing standard maintenance schedules.

Managed, sold and engineered, tooling and automation projects, from $5K to $6M. I collaborated with a variety of engineers and directors in multiple facilities/departments, which included Assembly/Production, Brake Systems, Fuel Systems, Manifold Systems, Transmission Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Hand Tools, MFG, and New Products in Michigan and Germany.

Key Achievements:

Helped to grow the ATMO4 department from 18 people with sales of $3.5M, to 52 people with sales of $21M.

Training classes in the Bosch Production System (BPS), LEAN, continuous improvement, 5s and Kizan.

Implemented BPS, and conducted DFM’s for new automation equipment to ensure the best possible equipment for the department and their employees.

Reduced the cost of a new Throttle Body assembly by 13.7% by working with multiple departments on a weeklong DFMEA in Farmington Hills, MI.

Design Engineer (Solidworks), Colborne was a manufacture of assembly machines for the food service industry. I designed a cutting machine that would cut sheets of Rice Krispy treats without backing up the processing line like conventional cutters. Linear motors, were utilized for the horizontal and vertical motions, and ultrasonic cutting horn was utilized to prevent the product from sticking to the cutter. Illinois Tool Works (ITW)

Tooling and automation projects range from $150K to $3M

I worked with many departments and groups include the Machine Assembly, Tool Room, Engineering, Sales.

Projects/equipment I have worked on include; machines that were capable of producing 40ppm up to 750ppm. Cam actuated machines, dispensing systems, electronic testing, marking systems and vision systems

We made equipment for the following industries: cosmetic industry (perfume, hair spray pumps and valves), medical industry (syringes, y-sites), computer industry (inkjet cartridges), and the food industry (cap closures, no drip sport drink caps, no drip mustard caps).
