Summary of Experience

Retired from Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division in Memphis and Shelby County TN. I began my career at a young age of 18 years old, as a lineman’s helper, erecting Electrical Steel Towers at the location of Macon Road and Houston Levee Rd. My accomplishments and promotions were several during my time there. First to an Apprentice Electrical Lineman, next to a Journeyman Lineman. Promoted to a Service Dispatcher in the Customer Service Department where all calls from customers were received for Electrical, Gas and Water Service complaints and service outages for all of Memphis and Shelby County Tennessee customers. Promoted again at the age of 22 being the first employee in MLGW history promoted to a Customer Service Trouble Shooter. I learned about electricity high and low voltage, Gas fitting, Plumbing, Air Conditioning and Heating. I attended several schools during my career to learn these trades. I finished my career as a Customer Service Manager, at the Brunswick Service Center, in Shelby County, TN. I also taught classes to new service employees the fundamentals of Natural Gas, Electrical and Plumbing for those wanting to enter that field of work.

I served as a Shelby County Sheriff Reserve Deputy and was promoted to Director of Reserve’s and Emergency Services 1988 by then Sheriff Jack Owens.

I worked in the Commercial Trucking and Transportation industry as a driver and owner- operator of Commercial trucks. Career began as a CDL driver, driving tractor-trailers (53 ft. vans, fuel tankers) Accomplishments during my career include promotions to Driver Manager. Managed and dispatched fifty -five plus employees and trucks Local/OTR. Duties as a dispatcher, included answering multiple telephone lines, with customers and drivers, entering information into a computer data base.
