I am currently working at Forum for Rural Income & Environmental Development (Guarantee) Limited and FRIENDS for Rural Development (Private) Limited. These companies are collectively known as the FRIENDS Group of Companies (www.friends.lk). I hold the position of Chief Financial Officer / Accountant (Administration & Finance) and have been in this role since February 1, 2012, to the present date.
o Forum for Rural Income & Environmental Development (Guarantee) Limited is an NGO funding by FORUT Norway, Palmera Australia, and SANMARGA Trust UK. It operates in 8 Divisional secretariats in 5 districts in Sri Lanka. o FRIENDS for Rural Development (Private) Limited is a company wholly owned by Forum for Rural Income & Environmental Development (Guarantee) Limited. The company is currently involved in providing bulk money lending services to selected local partnerships in specific divisional secretariat areas. Additionally, it is developing a groundnut value chain development business with the Smallholder Agribusiness Partnership Programme
(SAPP) under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture in Sri Lanka, funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Key Responsibilities are handling -
a. Responsible for managing all financial and non-financial reporting, overseeing the company's financial activities, including payments, receipts, banking (including bank reconciliations), credit management, costing, inventory handling, tax planning and taxation, and other administrative tasks. b. Preparing periodic financial statements by applying IFRS, SLFRS, LKS, and SIC. c. a. Handle day-to-day financial transactions, conduct bank reconciliations, post entries to the general ledger, and prepare monthly management accounts using the AS400 ERP system. b. Handle Tea Stocks and machine spare parts stocks and assist in preparing annual budgets and targets.
