The Sunyani Teaching Hospital (previously Bono Regional Hospital) is a 350- bed capacity Secondary Government Health Facility. It provides curative and preventive medical services in various departments like the medical- surgical, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, public health, dental, ear and throat, and ophthalmology. Name of department currently working in: Obstetrics and Gynecology This department has a bed capacity of about 70 consisting of several units. These include the labor ward, lying-in wards (Cesarean section, critical and spontaneous vaginal delivery wards), gynecological ward, mother and child units, antenatal and family planning units and the obstetrics theater. Date started in current unit: Antenatal and postnatal clinic- January 2024 to date This clinic has 4 palpation beds, a cardiotocography and other devices like electronic BP apparatuses and dopplers etc. The monthly attendance is about 400 clients.

Job duties and responsibilities

I give education on pregnancy to the clients.

I conduct head to toe examinations on pregnant women, postnatal mothers and their infants, and counsel them according to the findings.

I conduct palpations and auscultations, and refer to see the Medical Officer when necessary.

Ensure cleanliness of the patient environment.

I provide pregnant women with routine pregnancy drugs.

I give emotional support to expectant mothers by answering questions and alleviating concerns.

I perform prenatal and postnatal examination.

I assist mothers with breastfeeding, selfcare and postpartum healthcare.

Help mothers with babies bathing and dressing.

Previous units under this department I worked at this facility: 1. The Gynecological ward- January 2022 to December 2023 This unit had a bed capacity of 16.

Job duties and responsibilities

I provided care for patients with uterine fibroids, abnormal pregnancies, missed abortions and other types of abortions, malaria in pregnancy, cervical cancers, pelvic inflammatory diseases, ovarian cysts, urinary tract infections and other gynecological cases.

I provided pre and post operative care for patients who needed surgery.

I monitored and administered medications, injections and intravenous infusions for patients.

I fed both conscious and unconscious patients on the ward.

I assisted patients with walking exercise.

I stayed with patients on the ward to provide companionship. 2. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)- December 2020 to December 2021 The NICU had a cot capacity of 25, 8 phototherapy machines and 5 monitors. Job duties and responsibilities

Providing phototherapy for babies.
