EXPERIENCE
Machine Learning Research Assistant JUN 2023-AUG 2024 Boston University
• Trained a commonly used checkpoint of Meta’s Segment Anything Model on kidney biopsy images annotated by pathologists, as well as computationally augmented images.
• Developed an interactive web application integrating Django and React for executing machine learning models, designed for use by clinicians for diagnostics.
• Highlights cortex area and cortex percentage relative to the entire biopsy to provide critical insights for medical diagnostics and research.
• Evaluate the model’s performance used a 5-fold cross-validation and common image segmentation metrics such as Intersection over Union (IoU) and Dice Similarity Coefficient compared real segmentation results provided by pathologists.
• Research findings are published in Kidney International Reports. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ekir.2024.06.019
Laboratory Assistant OCT 2023-JUN 2024
AI Proteins
• Supported the Bioprocess Development team in conducting wet lab experiments and maintaining laboratory equipment.
• Contributed to a protein constellation project using SQL to find surface markers by identifying pairs of differentially co-expressed genes between normal and cancer cell membranes
Spatial Transcriptomics Research Assistant SEP 2021-JUN 2022 Boston University School of Medicine
• Researched methods in geographic information systems (GIS) to identify and adapt methodologies for the Giotto package for spatial transcriptomics
• Found functions from R-Terra to estimate cell type abundance at specific tissue locations and perform colocalization analysis.
