Dear Hiring Committee,

I am excited to apply for the Director of Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL/CLA) position at Jhpiego, as advertised. With extensive experience as a Research Capacity Advisor at Jhpiego Ethiopia, coupled with my recent training in implementation science and data management, I am eager to bring my expertise to your USAID-funded Universal Health Care Project in the Philippines. In my previous and current role, I have spearheaded complex research initiatives that mirror the demands of the Director position. For instance, my leadership in the evaluation of the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition's Better Dairy for All program required meticulous oversight and coordination across multiple stakeholders, ensuring rigorous data collection and analysis. This experience has honed my ability to manage multifaceted projects, develop and implement robust monitoring systems, and drive strategic initiatives that align with organizational goals.

My training in Fundamentals of Implementation Science from Emory University has equipped me with cutting-edge skills in collaborative research and adaptive learning. This, combined with my practical experience in managing large datasets and conducting comprehensive data analysis, highlights my readiness to lead Jhpiego’s MERL efforts. I am adept at using statistical software such as Stata and SPSS to ensure accurate and insightful data interpretation, which is crucial for driving evidence-based decision- making and achieving project objectives.

Furthermore, my role in strengthening federal and regional monitoring and evaluation systems in Ethiopia highlights my capacity to enhance data systems and foster continuous improvement. I am also experienced in building technical capacity and engaging with diverse stakeholders, including government entities and international partners. My ability to develop and execute strategic plans, coupled with my commitment to improving health outcomes, aligns perfectly with the goals of your Universal Health Care Project.

Jhpiego’s dedication to advancing health care for underserved populations resonates deeply with my professional mission, and I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute to your impactful work. I am confident that my skills and experience make me a strong candidate for the Director of MERL/CLA role, and I look forward to discussing how I can contribute to your team’s success. Thank you for considering my application. I have attached my resume and references for your review and am eager to discuss my candidacy further.

Research Topic: Predictors of unsafe sex practice among Adama University students using health belief model. Mixed study.

Details : My result suggested that in the past one year among the sexually active group of the study population about half did not used condom consistently. More over consistent condom use among students was significantly associated with perceived severity to unsafe sexual practice, perceived benefit to safe sexual practice and cues to action to safe sexual practice. The key results have been published on Pan Africa medical journal. Supervisor Professor Chali Jira and Mr Yitibark Kidane 2002-2006 Bachelor of Nursing (BSc)
