Tara Salvino
KY SRNA ready to start working and helping people.

I have always been a nurturing person and always knew I liked helping people. I used to be a hairdresser and that was a lot of fun being able to know and give the extra care and support to clients that needed it. You get to make someone feel better and you are also someone they can always talk with about anything on their mind. I worked beside an assisted living facility in Flatwoods when I was doing hair and loved seeing the ladies and gentlemen able to come to the salon to get their hair done each week. I also got my bachelors degree in social work and did several practicums. I got to work with people from many different walks of life at different stages in their lives. Our class would visit nursing homes on different occasions to spread happiness and have Easter parties and really get the chance to spend quality time with the residents and they loved it. When I went into social work I envisioned becoming a therapist or a medical social worker. I was in the graduate program and had to Authorized to work in the US for any employer
Work Experience
Personal Care Coordinator
TECH MEDICAL - Flatwoods, KY
October 2022 to May 2023
I was an SRNA that did home health. I was in leadership as a coordinator for the personal care team in my fivco area. I worked in the office and in the field. I had my own computer so I could work with scheduling, payroll, uploading files to client and employee pages. The regional manager and other PCCs rotated having the after hours on call phone. This required resolving any call offs or scheduling issues and finding coverage. I also had to document every call I received and in the event I could not find coverage in the area needed, I went to cover the shift. I did everything in the home from running errands to cleaning house and helping my clients with any needs such as showers and transfers. I had to use all of the programs in Microsoft office as well as our own programs and medical programs for the clients. Practicum Student
Pathways, Inc. - Ashland, KY
July 2019 to January 2020
I was a senior practicum student which meant I had more experience doing things for the most part on my own but with an immediate supervisor to learn from and help me apply learned skills to my experience there. I was able to sit in on individual therapy sessions after getting permission from the client and being able to observe and learn every day and I got to know many clients on a personal level. I co-facilitated group sessions and when I felt ready, I was able to lead a group myself and choose an activity appropriate for the topic. I worked on the dual diagnosis side of Pathways a lot because I felt I learned a lot there and it was a more intimate setting. We would help get clients to the doctor, access resources available to them and help them learn how to do different life skills on their own once they no longer needed our services. Our goal was always to empower our clients so they could live a healthy and happy life on their own. I completed my graduate school practicum with Safe Harbour Women’s Domestic Violence Shelter in Ashland
Cosmetologist
Fiesta Salons Regis Corporation - Flatwoods, KY
I had just completed my six month apprenticeship at Fantastic Sams. I was now a starting master cosmetologist and was quickly given more responsibilities. I learned how to open and close the register and store. This included paperwork, bank runs, cleaning, shopping, working as a team, attend weekly or bi-weekly meetings with my manager and coworkers, stock and change around the look of the store when new products came out or sales and being able to read body language and whatever was necessary to give customers excellent customer service. Our store was under a lot of pressure to raise sales and business since we were being bought out by Regis Corporation. We achieved this goal but corporate still made the decision to close down our store and we were all transferred to Master Cuts. This was hard on our loyal customers especially local clients and the residents of the assisted living facility beside us as they looked forward to coming each week to get their hair done. I enjoyed doing hair and loved how well you got to know many clients. It was often times like being an outlet for so many people. I loved talking with my clients and I wanted to try and go back to school for something that allowed me more time working with and helping people. This led me to social work Education
