SOF Watercraft Maintenance Facility – Key West, FL Project Description: Construction of a new maintenance facility for the repair of SOF hard-hulled and soft- hulled watercraft, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection utilities. Work includes demolition of the existing bunker, KW-800, which is currently used as a climate-controlled exercise facility. Saint Vincent’s Southside Hospital Exterior Façade Restoration – Jacksonville, FL Project Description: The project’s scope includes the demolition of 148,500 SF of existing precast skin, replaced with an insulated metal panel system over a new vapor barrier, and all new hurricane-rated windows and HVAC louvers. The project also includes interior modifications at each window opening and envelope improvements at two medical office buildings on campus. Western Zirconium Subsurface Barrier Wall, Work Pad Construction and Soil Stabilization – Ogden, UT Project Description: Construction of a 10,000 linear foot subsurface barrier wall, dike, working pad and access road around multiple wastewater evaporation ponds to satisfy requirements of the RCRA corrective action process for the State of Utah. The work pad was stabilized by soil-cement mixing 30% of the subsurface soils to a maximum depth of 5 feet using a cutter wheel. Grout mix design proportions had to be continually monitored and adjusted when necessary to account for soil contaminants, which affected the unconfined compressive strength of the in-situ soil-crete mixture. The project also included rerouting of existing underground utilities which required coordination not to avoid service interruption for more than 3 hours. Constant monitoring of soil and air to ensure proper PPE was utilized depending on conditions.

100-Year Levee Remediation, Cutoff Wall Improvements – Dallas, TX. Project Description: Construction consisted of the installation of cutoff walls along the east and west levees of the Trinity River to reduce under-seepage and to meet documented USACE seepage criteria for the 100 years of flood control. The length of the cutoff walls amounted to approximately 15,700 linear feet along the east levee and 2,600 linear feet along the west levee using a soil -bentonite (s-b) or cement-bentonite (c-b) backfill. In areas of crossing utilities, windows or gaps were jet grouted after the cutoff wall installations to reduce potential damage to existing utilities, while providing cutoff to address seepage. The cutoff walls totaled more than 800,000 square feet. Cutoff wall excavated soils or backfill spoils were compacted into areas within the floodway where existing riverside maintenance roads have sunken below the adjacent floodway floor ground surface. Work also included the installation of thirteen (13) pairs of inclinometer and piezometers to monitor ground and subsurface conditions during cutoff wall construction. Additional features of work included the rehabilitation of three
(3) outfall structures, 5,000 linear feet of a 16-foot-wide maintenance path, utility location, wetlands mitigation, and final restoration.

IBWC - Presidio Lower Levee Remediation – Presidio, TX. Project Description: This project is the second phase of a flood control program to strengthen and repair the existing levee system from effects of the flooding events of August 2008. This levee protects the lower end of the Presidio and Ojinaga Valley on the United States side of the Rio Grande River which includes nearly 5,200 acres of agricultural and farming areas. The scope of work includes the construction of 25,500-LF of a Toe Drain, 3,420-LF of soil-bentonite cutoff wall
(206,000 SF) to a maximum depth of 65 ft. with a maximum permeability of 1.0 x 10-7 cm/sec, placement of over 120,000-cy of earthen fill to repair levee failures and severe erosion, placement of 17,500 cubic yards of riprap, placement of 54,000-sy of flex-base, irrigation gate-well restoration and final restoration.
