Head of Humanitarian and Resilience
Department/ Regional Senior Humanitarian Advisor-ETH and SOML
As the Head of the Humanitarian and Resilience Department/Regional Senior Humanitarian Advisor for Ethiopia and Somalia at WHH, I am a dynamic leader specializing in humanitarian responses. My role involves leading a specialized team focused on ensuring the steadfast adherence and implementation of our organization ’ s Resilience and Humanitarian policies. Beyond this, my experience also encompasses significant expertise in funding management and resource mobilization, which has been instrumental in driving successful project implementations and bolstering organizational readiness.
In my capacity, I have successfully secured over 25 million Euros in funding, which has been pivotal in facilitating the monitoring and management of more than 40 successful Humanitarian and Resilience Building projects across fragile and conflict-affected regions such as Tigray, Afar, Oromia, Amhara, and Somali regions, including Somali- land country office. My funding management skills extend to the meticulous oversight of budget allocations, financial reporting, and compliance monitoring, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
Furthermore, I have played a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining effective external networks within the humanitarian sector, actively engaging with various clusters, working groups, and task forces. This has included representing WHH to prominent donors such as BHA, ECHO, OCHA, the German government, GIZ, and diplomatic missions. Through these engagements, I have provided technical support and innovative ideas to shape and influence humanitarian programming at the country level, demonstrating my capability in donor engagement and partnership building.
In addition to my funding management expertise, I have led the design and development of contingency plans, guidelines, and related preparedness strategies, enhancing WHH ’ s readiness to respond effectively to humanitarian mandates. This has involved strategic planning and coordination efforts to ensure timely and efficient responses to emerging crises, underscoring my commitment to proactive and anticipatory action in emergency situations.
Overall, my multifaceted experience as a leader in humanitarian response encompasses not only resilience-building initiatives and policy implementation but also robust funding management and resource mobilization strategies.

Head of Emergency Response Programs
As the Head of Emergency Response Programs, I have played a pivotal role in orchestrating comprehensive leadership throughout emergency interventions, ensuring effective responses to crises while maintaining the highest quality standards. My experience extends beyond operational management to encompass robust funding mobilization and management, which has been instrumental in driving successful emergency response initiatives.
In addition to guiding the entire process of emergency interventions, I have personally led resource mobilization efforts, securing over 5 million Euros to support emergency response initiatives. This has involved strategic engagement with donors, government agencies, and other stakeholders to secure funding for critical humanitarian interventions, underscoring my proficiency in fundraising and donor relations.
Furthermore, I have spearheaded the development and implementation of emergency preparedness initiatives, ensuring that our organization is well-equipped to respond promptly and effectively to emerging crises. This has involved not only the strategic allocation of resources but also the cultivation of partnerships and collaborations to enhance our response capabilities.
In my role, I have prioritized the training and support of staff to guarantee a high-quality response, fostering a skilled and capable team capable of addressing the diverse challenges posed by humanitarian crises. This includes providing training on fundraising strategies, grant management, and compliance requirements to ensure that our funding initiatives are conducted with transparency and accountability.
Additionally, I have maintained vigilance by actively monitoring early warnings and potential situations warranting humanitarian interventions, allowing us to proactively respond to emerging crises and mitigate their impact. During humanitarian crises, I have steered the emergency response team, implementing strategic interventions to address immediate needs and challenges while ensuring alignment with our organizational objectives and donor requirements.
