Some of the many tasks I perform are scheduling appointments, calling and getting ultrasounds, mammograms and other procedures scheduled,’faxing, insurance verification & copays, taking payments, credit card & cash, scanning, seeing if surgical procedures needed a prior authorization, contacting insurance companies to inquire about unpaid claims and see what’s needed to correct and resubmit, ice 10 coding, checking patients in/out. For about the last 6-8 months I have been catching a lot of incorrect claims their biller had submitted, patients charts would show there had been a payment from the insurance and when I would check the claim online it would show denied, no payment, claims that had been denied, she would not note why so I would find out why they didn’t pay and send them whatever they needed in order to pay. I haven’t ever submitted a claim myself because they had a billing company but I was learning and have learned a lot and I know I could figure it out! Beside that, I do everything else up front!
