As an interpreter, my primary responsibility is to use my knowledge of different languages to help people communicate with one another. Despite the language barriers, as a medical interpreter my job is to bridge the language and culture gap between patients, families, and care providers. My duties include traveling to clients at their schools, hospitals, and doctors offices to assist them in communicating with others. Following my experience as an interpreter with the U.S. Army, I have also conducted 60 hours of training to obtain my Americans Against Language Barriers Certificate in Training.

During my deployment in Afghanistan with the American Army, I utilized my experience and expertise in Pashto and Dari translation and interpretation. I provided linguistic support for the military and its operations during interviews meetings and conferences as required. My duties included translation and interpretation of written and spoken communications. I also transcribed and analyzed verbal communications during our missions out in the field and assessed battle damage claims.

I was responsible for the scheduling daily, weekly and monthly for coordination of a variety of activities which facilitated an environment for the students that was creative, safe and fun. I maintained open communication with teachers and parents. Additional duties included tutoring before and after school for students that required additional help with their schoolwork.
