for grant submitted to National Institute on Aging (NIA) for grant entitled HEAR-ITT—which is a
hearing track education video system on hearing aid orientation and auditory rehabilitation for older adults.
Research & Development grant was funded September 2013 through September 30, 2014. This grant involved
training older adults on how to use their hearing aids via the TellyHealth video system that connects to users’
television systems. Vignettes on hearing aid orientation and auditory rehabilitation will be presented to new
hearing aid users through the TellyHealth system. Developed patient materials and professional train-the-trainer
materials. In this project audiologists, will the progress of the older adults who are new hearing aid users via the
Internet to assess their knowledge about their hearing aids. This is phase I of the Research & Development grant
for the application of the TellyHealth system as it is applied to audiology and hearing aid orientation programs.
The TellyHealth system is available for diabetic education and is now being applied to the profession of
Audiology. TOTAL GRANT FUNDING $225,000.

dual sensory loss. Project involved the development of a scale to determine the impact of hearing and vision
